Abstract: Methods, systems, and articles of manufacture for analyzing behavior of Internet forum participants. Various embodiments comprise receiving or retrieving information or data of a particular post of interest and other information or data relating to the first post or the Internet forum; analyzing the data or information received or retrieved to determine the behavior of the user who initiated or created the post; determining whether the particular post is of interest; and determining user behavior patterns. Some embodiments may also comprise determining or identifying one or more actions for the behavior of the user or determining or predicting likely effects of the particular post on the Internet forum. In some embodiments, the method or the system presents a report or recommendation to a moderation team for review, approval, or decision.

Abstract: In one embodiment, an apparatus can include a switch fabric. The apparatus can also include a first edge device operatively coupled to an edge of the switch fabric and having a plurality of ports. The apparatus can also include a second edge device operatively coupled to the edge of the switch fabric and having a plurality of ports, the switch fabric defining a plurality of single-hop paths between the first edge device and the second edge device. The first edge device configured to send to a peripheral processing device operatively coupled to the first edge device a representation of a mapping of a portion of the plurality of ports of the first edge device and a portion of the plurality of ports of the second edge device to a plurality of ports included in a non-edge device represented within a virtual multi-hop network topology.

Abstract: A load balancing apparatus stores a transfer rule in which a path control identifier for identifying a path for a message sent from a client device is associated with relay device information for specifying a relay device that creates the path control identifier. When receiving a message from the client device, the load balancing apparatus determines whether the message contains the path control identifier. If the load balancing apparatus determines that the path control identifier is contained, the load balancing apparatus specifies, from the transfer rule, relay device information with which the path control identifier is associated and then sends the message to a relay device that is specified by the specified relay device information. In contrast, if the load balancing apparatus determines that the path control identifier is not contained, the load balancing apparatus sends the message to the relay device specified in accordance with a predetermined condition.

Abstract: A device monitors temperature readings from a sensor associated with an outdoor broadband unit. When the temperature readings increase above a stored threshold value, the device sends, to a device at a core network, an alert signal that invokes, at the core network, an emergency profile associated with the outdoor broadband unit. When the temperature readings decrease below the stored threshold value, the device sends, to the device at the core network, a normal signal that invokes, at the core network, a default profile associated with the outdoor broadband unit.

Abstract: An exemplary method includes a message broker subsystem receiving a message intended for delivery to a recipient software application instance, determining that the recipient software application instance is included in a plurality of functionally equivalent software application instances that are registered with a global directory service subsystem that is communicatively coupled to the message broker subsystem, automatically selecting a software application instance from the plurality of software application instances for receipt of the message in accordance with a load balancing heuristic, and attempting to deliver the message to the selected software application instance. Corresponding methods and systems are also described.

Abstract: Systems and methods for user interface implementation for partial display update are disclosed. One embodiment of the method, which may be embodied on a system includes, in a response received from a web server, identifying, for a web page, a set of elements able to he updated partially as displayed without refreshing the user interface in its entirety, detecting, in the response, updated elements in the set of elements that have been updated from a value displayed in the user interface, and/or partially updating the user interface to reflect changes to the updated elements in the web page without refreshing other portions of the user interface.

Abstract: The invention is directed to network management systems and methods that provide substantially real-time network management and control capabilities of multimedia streaming traffic in telecommunications networks. The invention provides pre-emptive and autonomous network management and control capabilities, and may include shared intelligence of embedded systems—Heterogeneous Sensor Entities (HSE) and the Sensor Service Management (SSM) system. HSEs are distributed real-time embedded systems provisioned in various network elements. HSEs performs fault, configuration, accounting, performance and security network management functions in real-time; and real-time network management control activations and removals. SSM facilitates automated decision making, rapid deployment of HSEs and real-time provisioning of network management and control services. The service communication framework amongst various HSEs and the SSM is provided by the Heterogeneous Service Creation system.

Abstract: Embodiments are directed to towards cloud scale automatic identity management. A floating network may be established using agents operative on hosts across one or more networks. Each node of the floating network is resident on host (computer or cloud instance) that includes an agent configured to perform one or more networking tasks that establish the floating network. Parent nodes may be nodes designated as points in the floating network for adding additional nodes. Accordingly, each parent node includes at least one parent agent that includes at least parent credentials. Agent installers provided to a host may generate a child agent for the host that includes child credentials generated based on its parent credentials. An unambiguous identity value for the new child node may be determined by tracing a trust relationship path from the child node to the root node of the floating network.

Abstract: Some embodiments of a multi-use application proxy have been presented. In one embodiment, an application proxy is executed as an intermediary a set of applications. The application proxy performs multiple functions between the set of applications. For example, the application proxy aggregates interactions between the applications and a client in one embodiment.

Abstract: A system and method is provided for capacity management of network connectivity between endpoints coupled to one another via a circuit. An inventory of network elements may be maintained in a database. A circuit designer may be presented with network elements that may be selected when designing the circuit between endpoints.

Abstract: Embodiments are directed to providing URL-facilitated access to spreadsheet component elements. In embodiments, a client may discover and then access elements of an existing workbook directly through a URL. In embodiments, a client may also provide, through a URL, value(s) for parameter(s) defined by the existing workbook. If value(s) are provided by the client, the workbook may be recalculated using the value(s) before a requested element of the workbook is returned to the client. In embodiments, the workbook is recalculated using a transient copy of the workbook, which is then discarded and the original workbook remains unchanged. Data changed in the workbook is automatically reflected in returned elements of the workbook when a request for such element is refreshed.

Abstract: An information processing apparatus for generating a plurality of images to be displayed on a display unit of a terminal device connected via a network and transmitting the plurality of images to the terminal device. The apparatus includes an image memory for storing the plurality of images; a first transmission unit for transmitting the plurality of images to the terminal device, an area determination unit for determining an area in which change between frames of the plurality of images exceeds a threshold value, a second transmission unit for compressing the determined area at a frame rate higher than that of the first transmission unit and transmitting the area to the terminal device, and a management unit for managing synchronization between an image transmitted by the first transmission unit and an image transmitted by the second transmission unit, generating drawing timing of each image.

Abstract: Apparatus, systems, and methods may operate to create a hypergraph of weighted vertices comprising computing resources and storage resources, and nets comprising workloads; to receive a plurality of requests to be addressed by a network associated with the hypergraph, at least some of the requests associated with data objects; to calculate partition schemes for the network based on the requests and the data objects according to an ant colony optimization heuristic; and to autonomously reallocate the workloads to the computing resources and/or the storage resources according to the partition schemes. The workloads may act as ants following a path defined by the vertices of the hypergraph. Further activities may thus include depositing pheromones along hyperedges of the hypergraph, wherein the hyperedges are used for swapping the vertices between the workloads. Additional apparatus, systems, and methods are disclosed.

Abstract: Systems and methods for processing segment boundary notifications in a digital media receiver are disclosed. One such method includes the step of registering for notification of segment boundary events associated with a first service provided to the digital media receiver. The method further includes receiving a notification of one of the segment boundary events, while tuned to a second service different than the first service; and tuning to the first service responsive to the received notification.

Abstract: Systems and techniques for transferring one or more files by connecting to a communications system host; sending, to a client connected to the communications system host, a request to transfer one or more files; when a client permits access to the one or more files, establishing a direct socket connection from the client and bypassing the communications system host; and initiating the transfer of the one or more files from the client over the direct socket connection.

Abstract: A method for establishing a software-defined network attachable storage system includes establishing first and second sets of logical computer systems (which may be virtual computer systems) as namespace servers and dataspace servers respectively. Each namespace server is configured: (a) to store, in its memory, filesystem metadata, the metadata including file and directory names and information on where user data associated with the file and directory names resides, and to store in its storage system a dynamically updated copy of the filesystem metadata; and (b) to process storage system pathname requests, for a predetermined subset of the namespace, from at least one requesting client computer and to return in response to each request a handle for use by the requesting client computer; and (ii) each dataspace server is configured to store and retrieve user data in its storage system based on handles determined by the namespace servers.

Abstract: A system includes a server and a controller embedded in a device. Both the server and the embedded controller are capable of communicating over a computer network. The embedded controller sends a command to the server over the computer network that identifies an instance of the device. In response, the server identifies the instance of the device based on the command, retrieves data that is specific to the instance of the device, and sends the data to the embedded controller over the computer network.

Abstract: A communication device for simultaneously rendering one or more conversations. The device includes a receiver for receiving over a network media associated with the one or more conversations and a rendering element for simultaneously rendering the media of the one or more conversations as the media is received over the network. The device also includes a media creation device for creating media for the conversations and a transmitter for transmitting the created media over the network to other participants of the one or more conversations. A memory or storage device stores the received and created media associated with the one or more conversations.

Abstract: In accordance with the invention, embodiments of a DNS server, a DNS proxy process, and an intermediate server (IMS) are described. The DNS server, DNS proxy process, and intermediate server (IMS) described herein utilize a source IP address for a client device, in combination with a destination IP address for a host server, in reverse mapping operations in order to accurately provide a hostname originally requested by the client device.

Abstract: An adaptive streaming server and a method are described herein for determining if a congestion level within a network exceeds a predetermined threshold and when this occurs then one or more lower bit rate segments of a content stream will be transmitted to a client.
