Abstract: A portable computer having cover support means is disclosed. The portable computer comprises a main body, a cover, a hinge mechanism, and cover support means. The cover has a display screen on its inside surface. The hinge mechanism connects the cover to the main body so as to allow the cover to be tilted relative to the main body around a horizontal tilting axis and to be swiveled around a vertical swiveling axis, the horizontal tilting axis being free from intersecting the horizontal swiveling axis. The cover support means supports the outside surface of the cover free from the display screen and prevents vibration of the cover, when the cover is swiveled at an angle of 180 degrees and tilted completely toward the main body so that the display screen faces upward.

Abstract: A portable electrical control and display device is described, having an indicator panel, a keyboard with at least one key pad, and a single housing designed as a single piece and made of a temperature-resistant material, which seals the control and display device in a water-tight manner.

Abstract: A computer may be easily user re-configured between desktop and tower housing orientations, with the computer's front side drive units being horizontally disposed in each orientation, using specially designed drive unit support and a reconfigurable front bezel. A square opening is formed in the front exterior wall of the housing, and the support apparatus includes spaced apart channel structures extending inwardly into the housing from the four sides of the wall opening, with opposing pairs of the channel structures being adapted to slidably receive corresponding projections on opposite side edge portions of the drive units. In this manner, each front side drive unit can be supported at the opening in a first orientation in which the drive unit will be horizontally oriented with the computer in a desktop orientation, or a second orientation in which the drive unit will be horizontally oriented with the computer in a tower orientation.

Abstract: A housing of a data processing system with a mechanism for easy removal and insertion of a disk drive, comprises a shell, two opposite guiding plates, a rear plate, and a front plate. A front section of each guiding plate has at least a step-shaped guiding groove. Two opposite side plates of the front plate can slide in the guiding grooves between a first level and a second level. The rear plate and the front plate carries a plurality of front disk drives and rear disk drives. When the front plate slides to the first level of the guiding groove, the front plate is jointed with the rear plate. When the front plate slides to the second level of the guiding groove, the front plate is stepped away from the rear plate so that the front and rear disk drives are both exposed.

Abstract: The present invention provides an improved structure connector for hard disk dawning box by designing the connector of the said box for rotational purpose hereof, by means of rotating the connecting seat of the connector outwardly for correspondingly coupling with the hard disk. Since this connection of the hard disk and the connector, no more transfer wires (cables) or the like will be using for communicating and the connector will accompany with the hard disk stored in an allowance space of the box by rotating the connecting of the connector inwardly to the box.

Abstract: A managed modular sub-environment for a computer system. In one embodiment, a plurality of modular managed sub-environments are included within an outer enclosure of a computer system. In one embodiment, the modular managed sub-environments have a managed thermal environment and a managed electromagnetic interference (EMI) environment. The computer system components enclosed within each sub-environment are less likely to be affected by the EMI or thermal energy from another neighboring sub-environment. Each of the plurality of modular managed sub-environments are coupled to a computer system backplane including a common bus, which distributes communications and power among the plurality of modular managed sub-environments.

Abstract: A drive bracket (10) includes a support base (20), a side plate (30) extending from one edge of the support base, and a retaining plate (40) extending from one edge of the side plate to be opposite to the support base. The support base has a flange (27) extending from another side thereof, a pair of spring tabs (24), recesses (22) each including an opening (23), and a pair of through holes (28) opposite to the spring tabs. The side plate has a pair of posts (32) formed inwardly at opposite ends thereof. The retaining plate has four spring fingers (42) extending inwardly. A hard disk drive engages with the drive bracket and the drive bracket is then engaged to a base panelwithin a computer enclosure.

Abstract: A structure for mounting electronic devices to a main body of a computer is disclosed. The structure has a chassis, a first device holder, a second device holder and a strut. The chassis has a first vertical plate, a second vertical plate and a bottom connecting the first and second vertical plates to each other. The first device holder is positioned in the chassis and near the first vertical plate. The second device holder is positioned in the chassis, near the first vertical plate and parallel with the first device holder. The strut is secured to the first vertical plate at its first end and to the second vertical plate at its second end while traversing over the chassis, and is engaged with and retains the first and second device holders.
