Patent number: 7999799Abstract: The present invention provides a liquid-crystal display device that is able to reduce EMI, current consumption, and so forth in an interchip transfer of display data, a timing signal, and so forth and to provide an appropriate timing margin. In an interchip transfer of display data, a timing signal, and so forth that uses a plurality of data drivers, a certain data driver is used as a data driver. When the data driver is used in a first stage, an internal receiver is made to function as an RSDS receiver by fixing the IFM terminal at the “H” level. The received RSDS signal constitutes a CMOS signal that has been divided into two by the receiver and is output by the transmitter. Here, a data inversion signal is generated and output by the transmitter. When the data driver is used in the second or subsequent stage, the internal receiver is made to function as a CMOS receiver by fixing the IFM terminal at the “L” level.Type: GrantFiled: March 22, 2005Date of Patent: August 16, 2011Assignee: AU Optronics CorporationInventor: Motoo Fukuo

Patent number: 7889162Abstract: A display device comprising a light guide (12), a front plate (14), and an intermediate electromechanically operable foil (16). Two electrode layers (22, 23) are arranged on either side of the foil (16) to induce electrostatic forces on the foil (16) and to bring selected portions of the foil into contact with the light guide (12), thereby extracting light from the light guide (12). The second electrode layer (22) is arranged on the opposite side of the light guide (12) with reference to the foil (16), and separated from the light guide (12) by means of a refractive layer (28). As no electrode layer is required on the light guide itself, the light path of rays extracted from the light guide is cleaner, and the absorption of light is reduced. The light guide can have a thickness such that the light extracted from the light guide per unit length is sufficient to allow for line-at-a-time addressing.Type: GrantFiled: May 14, 2004Date of Patent: February 15, 2011Assignee: Rambus Inc.Inventors: Ramon Pascal Van Gorkom, Peter Alexander Duine, Volker Schoellmann, Ruediger Johannes Lange, Siebe Tjerk De Zwart

Patent number: 7728825Abstract: Aspects of the invention provide virtual hover zones. When a user lowers a hovering stylus while remaining within a hover zone, cursor control is modified to be more easily controllable by the user. If the user pauses the stylus in mid-air before lowering the stylus, and if the stylus remains within the hover zone, then upon touchdown the cursor may be moved to the projection of the location where the stylus was paused. Any action that may be taken in response to the touch down may be sent to the projection location as well. Also provided are cursor control zones. A dampening zone may be used to provide dampened cursor movement feedback in response to movement input provided by a pointing device. Also, a dead zone may be used to prohibit cursor movement in response to movement input provided by the pointing device.Type: GrantFiled: March 22, 2005Date of Patent: June 1, 2010Assignee: Microsoft CorporationInventors: Alexander J. Patent number: 7710379Abstract: A display device and a driving method thereof are provided, which reduces an instantaneous current generated with a charge and discharge of source signal lines and further reduces a load to a power supply line. According to the invention, source signal lines are divided into the first to the n-th groups so as to be charged or discharged according to the first to the n-th latch pulses which are inputted at different timing. Since the number of the source signal lines which start to be charged or discharged at the same time is reduced, an instantaneous current generated with the charge and discharge can be reduced, and a load to the power supply line can be reduced as well.Type: GrantFiled: August 30, 2004Date of Patent: May 4, 2010Assignee: Semiconductor Energy Laboratory Co., LtdInventors: Tomoyuki Iwabuchi, Yasunori Yoshida, Akihiro Kimura, Mizuki Sato
