  • Publication number: 20150260387
Abstract: A night lighting device includes a battery powered motion activated lighting unit enclosed within a housing. The housing has walls with light apertures permitting light to escape and provide low level floor illumination. A front panel is pivotally attached to the housing. The front panel has an open peripheral frame and a rear wall set back from an edge of the frame. The open frame extends forwardly from and surrounds the rear wall. The rear wall includes light apertures and a sensor aperture. The open frame focuses the directivity of the motion sensor pattern due to the set back of the rear wall. The top overhang and side extensions of the frame prevent the motion sensing field from dispersing upwardly and laterally. Additionally, a kit is provided which includes the motion activated lighting device, a separate motion sensing lighting unit, and other components.

  • Publication number: 20110177954
Abstract: The present disclosure generally relates to a superconducting power grid having one or more AC/DC converters. The superconducting grid may further include one or more pairs of superconducting DC cables connecting each AC/DC converter. Each pair of superconducting DC cables may include a first positive polarity cable and a first negative polarity cable. The grid may also include at least one switching device configured to operatively connect at least one of the first and second AC/DC converters with at least one of the pairs of superconducting DC cables, the switching device further configured to adjust the polarity of at least one of the polarity cables. Other embodiments and implementations are also within the scope of the present disclosure.

  • Publication number: 20080180200
Abstract: The invention refers to a double acting electromagnetic actor, in particular for hydraulic and pneumatic applications, with a coil, an armature arranged in the coil with at least two permanent magnets magnetised in axial direction, and a central disc between the permanent magnets, wherein between the armature and the coil in axial direction stronger or easily magnetisable areas are formed, and between these a weakly or non-magnetisable area is formed. The invention is characterised in that the armature is arranged, in particular supported, in a pole tube provided in the coil.

  • Publication number: 20030014288
Abstract: The present invention comprises a system and method for managing transportation demand and capacity. The present invention allows a carrier to perform rapid and accurate determinations of the profitability of accepting various load transporting opportunities while taking into account the effect of taking a particular load on the entire carrier network. The present invention makes these profitability determinations based on a network model which is continually updated to account for changing market conditions and the effects of real-time events. The method of the present invention includes creating a dynamic network flow model comprised of multiple nodes, each node representing a specific location at specific time. The marginal value of a unit of capacity (e.g. a truck, a trailer, a rail car, a plane, etc.) at each node is calculated by solving the dual of a linear program associated with the network flow model. A matrix is created by a dynamic network value engine (NVE).

  • Patent number: 6401954
Abstract: A portable container for transporting and providing consumable substances, preferably liquid, to pets includes a storage container for storing a substance and a removably attached serving container. The storage container includes a carrying strap to facilitate transport of the portable container and indicia, preferably a photograph, identifying the pet or pet owner. The indicia is covered by a lens to protect and maintain the indicia on the storage container. The storage container further includes a spout to facilitate transference of the substance to and from the storage container, and a spout cover to prevent spillage during transport. Tabs are disposed on the serving and storage containers wherein the tabs are positioned adjacent each other when the serving container is placed on the storage container to facilitate attachment and removal of the serving container from the storage container.

  • Patent number: 4059222
Abstract: Apparatus and method for bailing newspapers so that they can be easily transported for recycling is disclosed. A paper bag is provided which has an interior volume adapted to receive a stack of newspapers through its normally open end. The bag includes mirror image juxtaposed patterns of slits on opposite sides of the bag near the open end. Each pattern of slits includes a first generally transverse slit adapted to define a handle element. A pair of slits depend from proximate the first transverse slit to define a flap element in which the tip is narrower than the base. A second transverse slit is located at the base of the flap element to define a slot. The flap elements on opposite sides of the bag are adapted to fold over the stack of newspapers within the bag and each other, and the upper ends of each flap element are adapted to fit into the slot of the other respective element, to encapsulate the newspapers in the bag.

  • Patent number: 3977596
Abstract: Apparatus and method for bailing newspapers so that they can easily be transported for recycling is disclosed. The apparatus includes a paper bag having raised handles on each side of its open end. The bag is provided with a paper flap which is attached to one side of the bag adjacent the open end. One or more tabs are located at the free end of the flap and correspond with pairs of parallel slits formed in the other side of the bag. After newspapers have been inserted in the bag, the flap can be folded over the exposed ends of the newspapers and inwardly along the interior surface of the other side of the bag for engagement of the tab with the slits. The newspapers are thus encapsulated within the bag and can easily be transported by grasping the handles of the bag.
