  • Patent number: 5907218
Abstract: A lighting assembly 2 includes a ballast subassembly 4, fluorescent lamps 30 and connectors 50 for connecting the ends of two lamps forming an associated pair. The ballast subassembly 4 is connected to only one base of two lamps and the other ends are connected by commoning socket connectors 50 that are not attached to the ballast subassembly 4. The ballast subassembly 4 includes a power supply circuit 100 and a ballast circuit 102 that can energize two fluorescent lamps 30 with remote lamp bases 34 commoned. The ballast subassembly 4 is mounted on one end of the lighting subassembly, for example on one end of a troffer 80. No wires or other direct electrical connection are necessary with the other end of the lighting assembly 4, the lamps 30, or the troffer 80. The commoning connectors 50 can employ bus contacts 64 having integral cantilever terminals 74 extending from a central bus section 66.

  • Patent number: 5876240
Abstract: A stacked electrical connector 2 including right angle RJ-45 modular jacks 4 positioned in columns also includes LED's 38 positioned on the front mating face 18 of the connector 2. Internal passages 28 extend from the mating face 18 of the jack housing 18 and intersect channels 34 extending to the bottom pcb mounting face 22 where the connector 2 and jacks 4 are soldered to a printed circuit board. LED leads 42 are located in the passages 28 and contacts 44 are located in channels 34. Insulation displacement slots 48 at the top of the contacts 44 terminate the leads 42. The termination points are staggered and the leads 42 in a column are of different lengths so that contacts 44 of different lengths can engage corresponding leads 42. LED's 38 can thus be positioned beside mating openings 20 on the front of the connector 2 to provide status indications.

  • Patent number: 5599190
Abstract: A communications wiring system includes a communications network interface device for routing a plurality of source signals between respective ones of a plurality of types of electrical sources and a number of reconfigurable outlet assemblies. Each reconfigurable outlet assembly selectively establishes electrical connection with predetermined ones of the electrical sources, via a cable. The communications network interface device receives and splits the source signals into a predetermined number of subsignals which are routed to respective reconfigurable outlet assemblies. Each reconfigurable outlet assembly includes an outlet and a number of interchangeable electrical connectors, such as modular jacks, adapted to be removably mounted to the outlet for establishing electrical connection with a predetermined electrical source. In order to establish electrical connection with a different electrical source, a first electrical connector can be removed and a second electrical connector can be inserted therein.

  • Patent number: 4463998
Abstract: An electrical connector for undercarpet flat, flexible cable includes a metal plate having plural lands raised in relief, a terminal block constructed to overlie selected lands and a fastener carried by the block to secure in one of the overlaid lands and apply the block and the overlaid lands in clamped relationship on a flat flexible cable, terminals in the terminal block are urged by the block to penetrate into the cable conductors to establish electrical connections.
