Patent number: 9271759Abstract: A locking pedicle screw assembly has been designed which avoids misalignment and locks into place once the cap is fully threaded into the tulip, avoiding over tightening or stripping of the threads. The locking cap includes a retaining or locking ring, positioned either at the bottom of the cap so that it locks into a groove at the bottom of the threads in the tulip or at the top of the threads in the cap, locking into a groove at the top of the tulip when the cap is fully seated. In one embodiment, an audible signal is generated when the cap locks. In another embodiment, the cap is secured to a swiveling saddle that locks the rod into place as the screw cap is tightening, but does not interfere with the locking mechanism.Type: GrantFiled: March 8, 2013Date of Patent: March 1, 2016Assignee: Institute of Musculoskeletal Science and Education, Ltd.Inventors: Gregory Bailey, Joel Torretti

Publication number: 20150148809Abstract: Corpectomy calipers are provided that are capable of measuring both the distance and the angle between two bodies, in particular between two vertebral bodies in an individual. The calipers provided are capable of providing reliable measurements without the need for repeated measurements. The calipers described herein offer a simple and inexpensive solution. Methods of using the calipers are provided, for example, in determining the size and spacing of a void in a corpectomy or intervertebral fusion procedure.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 26, 2014Publication date: May 28, 2015Inventor: Gregory Bailey

Patent number: 8782633Abstract: A method, a system and a computer program product for upgrading firmware is disclosed. In one embodiment data storage is managed in a data storage system comprising a first enclosure having a first storage processor and a first power supply. A firmware upgrade is saved in the first storage processor. The firmware upgrade in the first storage processor and firmware in the first power supply are compared. The firmware upgrade is downloaded to the first power supply in response to the comparison determining a difference between the firmware upgrade in the first storage processor and the firmware in the first power supply. The firmware is upgraded in the first power supply with the firmware upgrade.Type: GrantFiled: September 21, 2011Date of Patent: July 15, 2014Assignee: EMC CorporationInventors: Ashok Tamilarasan, Gregory Bailey, Michael Manning

Publication number: 20130086970Abstract: This invention utilizes a linear motor to impact peening media. It has three major applications: (1) deep compression low surface work peening, (2) Almen strip arc height testing and (3) manual peening. This process differs from existing processes in that impacts are controlled in position, velocity and mass. The indentor tip may have single or multiple indentors. In its deep peening/low surface work this invention competes with processes such as Roller Burnishing, Low Plasticity Burnishing and Laser Peening. The Almen strip testing application fills a void in shot peening quality control. There are examples of Almen strips whose arc height behavior differed side to side. Others have differed between lots. Recent peening production lines have been shut down by incorrect arc heights. This invention is an alternative to manual peening processes such as Flapper peening and hand held nozzle peening.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 6, 2011Publication date: April 11, 2013Applicant: PeenMetInventors: Charles Robert Ruehl, Peter Gregory Bailey

Publication number: 20110191069Abstract: An automated method and system generates a specification or construction of a building based upon a floor plan, and using modular elements selected from a predetermined set of modular element types. Computer-readable input data representative of a user-generated floor plan is received, which is made up of modular elements arranged in accordance with a regular grid. The input data is processed to produce computer-readable specification data which includes a specification for construction of a building from the modular elements, in accordance with the floor plan. At least one output file is generated, which includes information for use in construction of a building in accordance with the building specification data. The invention enables the design of modular building structures, which can be deployed relatively rapidly and cheaply, by users having no particular skills in building design and/or structural engineering.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 30, 2009Publication date: August 4, 2011Applicant: TRIPOD COMPONENTS PTY LTDInventors: Tyge Madsen, Russell Gregory Bailey, Nick Thomas Southwell

Patent number: 7735350Abstract: Determining shot peening intensity by affixing a Almen test strip to a shot peening surface, removing the peened strip from the shot peening surface, measuring an arc height of the shot peened strip, and determining peening intensity on the surface from the measured arc height. The strip may be affixed with an adhesive such as rubber cement and may be a sub-size strip cut from a full size Almen strip. The arc heights of the sub-size strip may be correlated to arc heights of the standard strips. A sub-size strip may be affixed to and a full size standard strip may be mounted on a peening surface of a block and be simultaneously shot peened. Arc heights may be measured on a gage having support means for holding both strips.Type: GrantFiled: September 29, 2008Date of Patent: June 15, 2010Assignee: General Electric Co.Inventors: Peter Gregory Bailey, Gerard Gilmary Burns
