    Abstract: This disclosure relates to a select class of porous adsorbent, metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) capable of adsorbing carbon dioxide, their manufacturing, applications, and methods of use. Specifically, this disclosure relates to the solvo(hydro)thermal synthesis of a family of metal-organic frameworks, and their subsequent processing and transformation into material forms suitable for use in acid gas separations. More specifically, this disclosure relates to the preparation and recovery of MOFs at multiple scales of production, demonstrating the suitability and robustness of the materials thus obtained by the disclosed synthetic route and post-synthetic manipulation employed to tailor the materials for use in a variety of commercial acid gas separation systems, with improved performances, recyclability, and reuse characteristics.

    Abstract: Prescription medications, especially opioids, are often abused. The present invention provides a pill dispensing device that is designed to reduce misuse, diversion, and pilfering or prescribed opioids or other medications that may require regulated dispensing. The device of the present invention securely holds a repository of pills and dispenses a single pill only after the allotted prescribed time interval and only after verification of the correct user through the biometric ID device. The dispensing device includes a locked tamper-resistant outer housing, a biometric ID device, a display for alerting the user to critical information, (such as time to the next pill and number of pills remaining) and a secure mechanical pill dispensing mechanism.

    Abstract: The present disclosure is directed ion-exchange systems and devices that include composite ion-exchange membranes having 3D printed spacers on them. These 3D printed spacers can drastically reduce the total intermembrane spacing within the system/device while maintaining a reliable sealing surface around the exterior border of the membrane. By adding the spacers directly to the membrane using additive manufacturing, the amount of material used can be reduced without adversely impacting the manufacturability of the composite membrane as well as allow for complex spacer geometries that can reduce the restrictions to flow resulting in less pressure drop associated with the flow in the active area of the membranes.

    Abstract: A guidance system that automatically switches guidance modes in connection with executing an end turn. As the agricultural machine travels in a first, row sense guidance mode along a first guidance line in a non-coverage area, an approaching boundary between the non-coverage area and a headland area is identified. If the headland area contains crop rows, then, upon reaching the boundary, the guidance system switches to a second, GPS guidance mode. The agricultural machine travels along a first turn guidance line from the first guidance line to a preexisting headland guidance line, wherein the guidance system switches to the first guidance mode. The agricultural machine then travels in a direction parallel to the crop rows of the headland area. When leaving the headland guidance line, the guidance system switches to the second guidance mode, and then back to the first guidance mode upon the agricultural machine returning to the boundary.

    Abstract: A system and method for acid gas separations using porous frameworks of metal atoms coordinatively bound to polytopic linkers that are functionalized with basic nitrogen ligands that expose nitrogen atoms to the pore volumes forming adsorption sites. Adjacent basic nitrogen ligands on the metal-organic framework can form an ammonium from one ligand and a carbamate from the other. The formation of one ammonium carbamate pair influences the formation of ammonium carbamate on adjacent adsorption sites. Adsorption of acid gas at the adsorption sites form covalently linked aggregates of more than one ammonium carbamate ion pair. The acid gas adsorption isotherm can be tuned to match the step position with the partial pressure of acid gas in the gas mixture stream through manipulation of the metal-ligand bond strength by selection of the ligand, metal and polytopic linker materials.

Adding a book block converts the case into an embossed laminated hardcover book.

In an aspect, a mechanism is provided wherein a first VFS interface unit coupling the VFS to a local data storage system is replaced with a second VFS interface unit in a coordinated procedure for taking the first unit offline, making a reliable snapshot of its data and cache structure in the VFS, and loading the same data and cache structure into the second VFS interface brought online. The first and second VFS interfaces transfer the necessary data to achieve the switch through respective side-loading daemons running in each interface. Clients in the local data storage system experience minimal interruption of services in the VFS.
