  • Publication number: 20180066955
Abstract: Some embodiments provide a mapping application that displays a transit map including a group of transit lines. The mapping application receives a request to display a transit route in the transit map. The mapping application also, in response to the received request, displays the transit route by modifying portions of transit lines along the route to emphasize the portions of the transit lines while modifying other transit lines not along the route to de-emphasize the transit lines not along the route.

  • Publication number: 20170356755
Abstract: Some embodiments of the invention provide several novel methods for generating a navigation presentation that displays a device navigating a route on a map. The method of some embodiments uses a virtual camera that, based on detected changes in the navigation context, dynamically modifies the way it captures portions of the map to produce different navigation scenes in the navigation presentation. To generate the navigation scenes, the method of some embodiments (1) identifies different sets of attributes that describe the different navigation contexts at different times during the navigation presentation, and (2) uses these different sets of attributes to identify different styles for operating the virtual camera. In some embodiments, the method uses an identified style to specify the virtual camera's positional attributes, which, in turn, define the portions of the map that the virtual camera identifies for rendering to produce several navigation scenes for a period of time (e.g.

  • Publication number: 20170343376
Abstract: Some embodiments provide a mapping application that provides a first map browsing mode for displaying a map that emphasizes a first set of features in a map region. The mapping application also provides a second map browsing mode for displaying a map that de-emphasizes the first set of features while emphasizing a second set of transit-related features in the map region.

  • Patent number: 9726506
Abstract: Some embodiments provide a mapping application that displays transit information in a map region. The mapping application identifies several transit lines for a map region. Each transit line corresponds to at least one transit vehicle route. Based on a particular zoom level of the map, the mapping application determines a subset of the transit lines to display in the map region. The mapping application displays the subset of the transit lines in the map region to emphasize the transit lines over other map features.

  • Publication number: 20160356603
Abstract: Some embodiments provide a map application that receives a starting location and a destination location. The application then identifies several different transit routes from the starting location to the destination location based on a set of transit preferences. Each transit route includes a set of transit legs each of which is serviced by a different transit line. In some embodiments, the application ranks the identified transit routes based on a set of criteria, and displays a representation of a highest ranked transit route over a portion of a map presentation along with a set of information about the displayed transit route.

  • Publication number: 20160356613
Abstract: Some embodiments provide a map application that identifies a transit route that includes one or more transit legs between a starting location and a destination location. In response to a request to start navigating the identified transit route, the map application of some embodiments provides a first display area for displaying a set of navigation instructions, each of which describes a transit maneuver that is associated with a transit leg of the transit route. The map application also provides a second display area for displaying a map region presentation associated with the navigation instruction that is displayed in the first display area.

  • Publication number: 20160356622
Abstract: Some embodiments provide a navigation application that provides, as a device traverses a transit route, a transit navigation presentation that includes navigation instructions that specify navigation maneuvers associated with at least one walking portion and a set of transit vehicles. The navigation application also monitors the device's position along the transit route. The navigation application also, after determining that the device is on the walking portion of the transit route, automatically, and without user intervention, presents a walking-direction indicator to identify the orientation of the device with respect to a desired walking-navigation direction of the walking portion of the route.

  • Publication number: 20160356614
Abstract: Some embodiments provide a mapping application that displays a transit map including a group of lines that each corresponds to at least one transit route and, for each line, a set of transit-related features located along the line. The mapping application receives a selection of a transit line and, in response to the selection, modifies the transit map to emphasize the selected transit line and the set of features located along the selected transit line.
