    Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided that allow for automatic applications menu generations when an updated application is available to a vehicle diagnostic device. The applications are verified to ensure that they are authorized for the vehicle diagnostic device. Templates can be used to generate the applications menu by associating the template with the installed application. The vehicle diagnostic device can display the applications menu and sort the applications menu based authorized applications versus unauthorized applications.
