Abstract: A method and associated system are provided for implementing lottery ticket transactions via a player's mobile device and a retailer's existing gift card interchange system hosted by a gift card service provider without issuing an actual gift card. Purchase of the lottery ticket at the POS location mimics purchase of any other product using a gift card at the POS, which allows the retailer to conduct lottery transactions by piggybacking their existing gift card system provider's network.
