  • Patent number: 11828132
Abstract: A well plugging technique that includes a downhole plug system to be disposed downhole in a well and including a plug bladder system including an inflatable bladder (to be inflated with a resin) and a check valve (to facilitate flow of the resin into, and inhibit back flow of the resin out of, the bladder), and a plug deployment system including a resin chamber to house the resin and a resin deployment system to urge the resin to flow from the resin chamber, through the check valve and into the inflatable bladder while the downhole plug system is disposed downhole in the well, to inflate the plug bladder system into sealing contact with a surrounding downhole portion of the well. The resin including a hardening resin adapted to harden inside of the inflatable bladder to form a hardened plug downhole in the well.

  • Patent number: 11713670
Abstract: A system for locating a casing collar includes a drill pipe sub-assembly with a drill pipe segment and detection apparatus. The detection apparatus includes a bypass port disposed in a wall of the drill pipe segment; an annular sleeve which directs fluid through the bypass port and into a drill pipe segment interior portion; an actuator which opens and closes the bypass port; and two magnetized coils which generate an electromagnetic field. The actuator closes the bypass port in response to a predetermined voltage generated by the magnetized coils when they displace past a casing collar. Also included are a weight loss detection device which detects a loss of weight in the drill pipe segment, and a depth determination device which determines a depth of the casing collar, based on detected loss of weight. Also disclosed and described are a related method and drill pipe sub-assembly.

  • Patent number: 11560790
Abstract: A leak detection tool is positioned in in a tubing string that is disposed in a wellbore. The leak detection tool is attached to a downhole end of a line and includes a cup. An outside diameter of the cup is substantially the same as an inside diameter of the tubing string. An uphole end of the line is attached to a spool disposed proximate to an uphole end of the wellbore. The leak detection tool is propelled through the tubing string in a downhole direction by pumping a fluid down the tubing string such that a fluid pressure uphole of the cup is greater than a fluid pressure downhole of the cup. A flow of fluid from an interior of the tubing string uphole of the cup to an exterior of the tubing string through a leak in a wall of the tubing string is detected as the cup passes the leak. A depth of the leak is determined based on a length of the line from the spool to the leak detection tool when the flow of fluid from uphole of the cup through the leak is first detected.
