  • Publication number: 20230270015
Abstract: The present invention relates to a composite film that is capable of converting mechanical energy to electrical energy. The film comprises a substrate and piezoelectric nanoparticles that are configured to form a plurality of pores. The present film is flexible and highly porous, providing high permittivity and beneficial porosity-mediated mechanical properties. When used in a piezoelectric nanogenerator (PNG), the film provides enlarged bulk film strain and reduced film impedance, resulting in a high efficiency PNG with increased output voltage and current as compared to known PNGs. A method of synthesizing the film is also described. The provided method is simple and cost-effective.

  • Publication number: 20230216308
Abstract: The present disclosure envisages a hybrid energy storage system (HESS) for power management of a microgrid. The system includes a plurality of renewable energy sources (RES), a plurality of power converters, a DC bus and a power management controller. Each RES is configured to generate a current IRES. Each RES is connected to a power converter. Each power converter generates a DC voltage Vdc from the current IRES. The DC bus is connected to the plurality of power converters. The DC bus receives the DC voltage Vdc. The power management controller controls a battery energy storage system (BESS) and a supercapacitor energy storage system (SCSS). The BESS includes a battery which is connected to receive the DC voltage Vdc and generate a battery current ibatt. The SCSS includes a supercapacitor which is connected to receive the DC voltage Vdc and generate a supercapacitor current isc.

  • Publication number: 20210050086
Abstract: The present invention includes methods and systems for generating an optimised workout plan for an individual based on the individual's genetic, physiological, behavioural and lifestyle data. By taking an individual's genetic and environmental data into account, a workout plan can built from individual exercises and exercise parameters in a way that is optimised for the individual's physiological traits.

  • Publication number: 20200204089
Abstract: The present invention relates to a piezoelectric nanogenerator (PENG) that is capable of harvesting mechanical energy into electricity. The PENG comprises one dimensional (1D) and two dimensional (2D) nanostructures integrated together to form a composite nanostructure. A major advantage of the present invention is that the composite nanostructure provides enhanced electrical output and enhanced mechanical stability as compared to previously reported 1D or 2D nanostructures alone. Also described is a hybrid nanogenerator that combines the PENG with a triboelectric nanogenerator (TENG). A method of synthesizing the composite nanostructure PENG, in which the 1D and 2D nanostructures are grown together on the same substrate using a low temperature hydrothermal method is also described. The provided method is simple and cost-effective.
