Abstract: Methods and systems that improve the ability of a media guidance application to aggregate information from one or more sources and one or more mediums. For example, the media guidance application may automatically collect information based on attributes associated with information of a particular type. Specifically, the media guidance application may determine based on comparison with verified training data that one source or medium typically associates information of a particular type, for example, “Actor,” with one or more path attributes, for example, a location in a directory structure. The media guidance application may then search the source or medium for the one or more path attributes. Upon detecting the one or more path attributes, the media guidance application may designate any sub-set of information associated with the one or more path attributes as a particular type of information.

If the user is binge-watching the series, a binge compulsion score is determined for each episode of the plurality of sequential episodes, where the binge compulsion score is based on how many additional sequential episodes an average user has watched after watching that episode. Then, in response to determining that the binge compulsion score of the next episode corresponds to a threshold, a prompt is generated for display, where the prompt includes a recommendation to the user to pause the series before the next episode begins.

In some aspects, the systems and methods identify the erroneous term in a text segment of the on-screen caption text, and identify one or more video frames of the media asset corresponding to the text segment. The systems and methods further identify a contextual term related to the erroneous term from the one or more video frames. By accessing a knowledge graph, the systems and methods identify a candidate correction based on the contextual term and a portion of the text segment. Lastly, the systems and methods replaces the erroneous term with the candidate correction.
