  • Patent number: 7260078
Abstract: A system for providing management protocol mediation between wireless networks includes a first wireless network (10) operable to communicate with a mobile station (12) over a wireless interface (48). The system also includes a second wireless network (44) having an operations and maintenance center (OMC) (78) coupled thereto and operable to execute an application to manage the first wireless network (10) using a first management protocol. The OMC (78) is further operable to manage the second wireless network (44) using a second management protocol. The system further includes a protocol mediator (166) coupled to the first and second wireless networks. The protocol mediator (166) is operable to translate between the first management protocol and the second management protocol.

  • Publication number: 20050064845
Abstract: An authentication server includes a first link connected to an authenticator associated with a Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) and a second link connected to a gateway associated with a mobile network such as a GPRS network. The authentication server also includes a mapping system having instructions for receiving one or more first messages from the authenticator, the first messages being of a first type associated with the WLAN but not the mobile network, such as a RADIUS message. The mapping system also includes instructions for generating a first group of one or more call detail records from the received first messages, the call detail records being of a second type associated with the mobile network, and sending the first group of call detail records to the gateway.

  • Patent number: H2059
Abstract: A communications system includes a base station operable to communicate with a terminal unit over a wireless interface and a packet network coupled to the base station and operable to communicate with the base station. The system also includes a network management system coupled to the packet network. The network management system is operable to generate a management message to manage the terminal unit. The network management system is also operable to transparently communicate the management message to the terminal unit and to transparently receive a response to the management message from the terminal unit.
