Abstract: Systems and methods for managing power consumption of device subsystems include a device which maintains one or more constraint metric tables for applications executable on the device. Each of the one or more constraint metric tables may specify respective power levels for subsystems of the device according to a respective application or an application type of the respective application. The device may determine to operate the device at a reduced power level for a first application, based on a condition for the device satisfying at least one of a thermal threshold criteria or a power threshold criteria when the device operates at full power level. The device may apply a constraint metric responsive to determining to operate at the reduced power level, to cause a subset of the plurality of subsystems to adjust a power consumption level according to a first constraint metric table corresponding to the first application.

  • Publication number: 20230254768
Abstract: Disclosed herein is an approach for improving energy efficiency of a wireless communication device by reducing power distributed to receiver chain circuits (RCCs) based on determining whether the incoming wireless data is to be received and processed by the RCCs within an upcoming time duration. A device can identify a plurality of RCCs for processing data to be received by the device from a network. The device can determine that a first RCC of the plurality of RCCs is to receive the data within a time duration and that a second RCC of the plurality of RCCs is to receive no data within the time duration. The device can cause, responsive to the determination, power to be reduced to the second RCC and not be reduced to the first RCC, within the time duration.

  • Publication number: 20230065594
Abstract: Disclosed herein are systems and methods for network traffic shaping and/or adjustment of discontinuous reception (DRX) cycles. A wireless device determines a delay between a time at which a packet is transmitted from a server, to a time of arrival of the packet at the wireless device. The wireless device determines jitter of packets arriving at the wireless device from the server. The wireless device sends a message corresponding to the determined delay and the determined jitter, to the server to perform shaping of packet traffic from the server to the wireless device according to a latency budget of the packet traffic. The wireless device adjusts a length of a discontinuous reception (DRX) cycle of the wireless client device, to align with and to receive the packet traffic shaped by the server.

  • Patent number: 10659117
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. In some wireless communications systems, a base station may precode downlink signals to be transmitted to a user equipment (UE) using a precoding matrix. The precoding matrix may be selected by a UE from a number of precoding matrices (e.g., a codebook) and reported to the base station in a channel state information (CSI) report. As described herein, a base station may support techniques for limiting a number of precoding matrices that a UE may evaluate to identify a preferred precoding matrix to be indicated to the base station. In addition, the techniques described herein allow a base station to dynamically indicate an appropriate set of precoding matrices for the UE to evaluate based on the channel conditions at a given time.

  • Patent number: 10200918
Abstract: The present disclosure provides a mechanism that may allow a UE to determine whether PBCH repetition is enabled in the target cell without performing a hypothesis test. For example, the apparatus may receive a handover message from a serving cell. In an aspect, the handover message may be associated with a handover procedure to a target cell. In addition, the apparatus may determine whether to perform a hypothesis test to determine if a PBCH repetition is enabled in the target cell based on the handover message. In one example, the apparatus may determine not to perform the hypothesis test when the handover message includes information that indicates if the PBCH repetition is enabled in the target cell. In another example, the apparatus may determine to perform the hypothesis test when the handover message does not include information that indicates if the PBCH repetition is enabled in the target cell.
