  • Patent number: 7267992
Abstract: A method is provided to determine the presence of an analyte in a sample. The method provides an element with a sample application zone, a detection zone, a zone containing immobilized analyte or analyte analogue, a conjugate that has a first bioaffine binding partner capable of a specific binding reaction with the analyte and a first detectable label, and a universal conjugate, which can be detached by liquid and comprises a second bioaffine binding partner and a visually detectable label. The second bioaffine binding partner is capable of a specific binding reaction with the first detectable label. The method also includes contacting the sample application zone with the sample, contacting the sample with the conjugate and the universal conjugate to react the analyte with the and the universal conjugate to form a detection complex, and determining the presence of the detection complex in the detection zone of the element.

  • Patent number: 7026002
Abstract: The invention concerns an element for the determination of an analyte in a liquid by means of a specific binding reaction of two bioaffine binding partners containing in or on material which enables liquid transport between the zones. The element comprises a sample application zone; a detection zone located downstream thereof that is devoid of binding reagents and is the last zone on the element that allows liquid transport; a zone containing immobilized analyte or analyte analogue between the sample application zone and the detection zone; and impregnated conjugate that can be detached by liquid located in the sample application zone or upstream or downstream thereof composed of a bioaffine binding partner capable of a specific binding reaction with the analyte to be determined and a detectable label.

  • Publication number: 20040038296
Abstract: The invention relates to reagents methods and devices for the direct assessment of analytes of interest in relation to a reference molecule, wherein the concentrations of both the analyte as well as the reference molecule are not determined individually. The result of measurements according to the present invention is directly or indirectly correlated to the analyte to reference molecule ration.

  • Patent number: 6514773
Abstract: Subject matter of the invention is a method for detecting surface contamination by an analyte by wiping the analyte off the surface with the aid of a wiping surface, eluting the analyte from the wiping surface with an eluant, and detecting the analyte in the eluate in an immunological detection reaction, characterized in that: a) the surface to be tested for the analyte is wiped with a wiping surface, b) the wiping surface is brought into contact with the planar surface of a capillary active, chromatographic test strip which has an eluant application zone at its one end and a target zone at its other end whereby contact is made in an area between these two zones, c) eluting liquid is applied onto the zone provided for this purpose, said liquid moving toward the target zone passes the contact site with the wiping surface as a consequence of capillary forces, whereby analyte is taken up by the eluant, and d) in the target zone, the analyte is measured in an immunological binding reaction.

  • Patent number: 5556789
Abstract: Device for the determination of analytes having a sample application point, several separate sample withdrawal zones that are each connected with the sample application point by one capillary transport path and that have several test elements for the individual determination of analytes wherein a retardation zone is provided on at least one of the transport paths. Material for the capillary transport of a liquid sample defines a sample application zone and a plurality of sample withdrawal zones connected to said application zone by a like plurality of transport paths. At least one of said paths has a retardation zone which assures that liquid applied to said application zone arrives simultaneously at said withdrawal zones, regardless of the lengths of the paths.

  • Patent number: 5424220
Abstract: The invention addresses an analysis element for the determination of an analyte according to the principle of a heterogeneous immunoassay. Said analysis element is made of a chromatographic porous carrier material and has a reaction zone, at least two detection zones and absorptive zones following said detection zones. The reaction zone contains analyte-specific and labelled binding partners which are present in a number of soluble compartments which are close together, but nevertheless spatially separated. The detection zones are adjacent to the reaction zones and contain an immobilized binding reagent for one of the binding partners present in the reaction zone. At least one detection zone contains a binding reagent for the analyte-specific unlabelled binding partner.
