  • Patent number: 6851227
Abstract: The invention concerns a structural and mechanical means to build a large retractable roof, that can have the shape of a barrel vaulted roof or a pitched vaulted roof or a flat roof. The roof is moved as one monolithic roof on and off a mall walkway or other structure. The roof cover is a glass skylight or other material.

  • Patent number: 5848499
Abstract: A cable-stay retractable skylight roof and method of constructing the same wherein a large clear span is built over an existing or new athletic stadium or arena or other structure. The principal feature of the roof structure is that it is supported by Cable-Stays to towers standing outside of the stadium and places no vertical weight on the existing stadium. The structure includes a beam framework and roof covering installed over the framework. The covering is fabricated of a clear skylight material to allow sufficient light transmission to permit a natural grass playing field and retracts open to create an open air stadium.

  • Patent number: 5653066
Abstract: A cable-stay retractable skylight roof and method of constructing the same wherein a large clear span is built over an existing or new athletic stadium or area or other structure. The principal feature of the roof structure is that it is supported by Cable-Strays to towers standing outside of the stadium and places no vertical weight on the existing stadium. The structure includes a beam framework and roof covering installed over the framework. The covering is fabricated of a clear skylight material to allow sufficient light transmission to permit a natural grass playing field and retracts open to create an open air stadium.

  • Patent number: 5010695
Abstract: A roof structure and method of constructing the same wherein a large clear span is built over an existing or new athletic stadium or arena. The principal feature of the roof structure is that it is supported by Cable-Stays to towers standing outside of the stadium and places no additional weight on the existing stadium. The invention is particularly concerned with such a method and structure wherein the central section of the structure is not cantilevered from the towers and thus does not impart cantilever loads to the towers. The structure includes a beam framework and roof covering installed over the framework. The covering is fabricated of a clear skylight material to allow sufficient light transmission to permit a natural grass playing field and is openable to allow for ventilation.

  • Patent number: 4802314
Abstract: A roof structure and method of constructing the same wherein a large clear span is built over an existing or new athletic stadium or arena. The principal feature of the roof is that it is supported by Cable-Stays to towers standing outside the stadium and can be built over an existing stadium by cantilevering without entering the stadium, and places no added weight on the existing stadium. The structure includes a beam framework and a roof covering installed over the framework. The covering is fabricated of a clear skylight material to allow sufficient light transmission to permit a natural grass playing field, and it is openable to allow for ventilation.

  • Patent number: 4651496
Abstract: A method is disclosed for erecting a cable stay roof structure. The cable stay roof structure is intended to be assembled above an existing open air stadium. The structure includes an A-frame which supports a plurality of radial beams via cable stays. A covering, preferably of glass, is mounted over the radial beam structure. The covering can have a partially retractable panels. The load of the roof structure is carried by the A-frame, rather than by the existing stadium walls.

  • Patent number: 4125978
Abstract: Building parapets and sidewalls are reinforced independent of the floor thereof by interconnecting opposed parapets or walls with adjustable interconnectors comprising anchor plates, cables and turnbuckles. The connection ties the parapets or walls together against separation and outward destructive movement under the influence of earthquake force conditions.
