    Abstract: An assembly for detecting sticking of a toolstring and location of the sticking includes a downhole tool. A release device is connected with the downhole tool, and a tension measurement device adjacent the release device. The tension measurement device can detect a change in tension when a lifting force is applied to a stuck toolstring, and the release device can be activated if a change of tension is detected.
