Patent number: 11859469Abstract: A production stream is received from a well formed in a subterranean formation. The production stream includes a gaseous portion and a liquid portion. The liquid portion has a base sediment and water (BS&W) percentage. At least a portion of the gaseous portion of the production stream is combusted to produce a flaring byproduct stream. The flaring byproduct stream is flowed through a coiled tubing to the well. The BS&W percentage of the liquid portion of the production stream is measured. The flow of the flaring byproduct stream to the well is decreased in response to the BS&W percentage reaching a threshold BS&W percentage.Type: GrantFiled: October 20, 2021Date of Patent: January 2, 2024Assignee: Saudi Arabian Oil CompanyInventors: Muath Fahad Almuayli, Adel Ali Al-Qahtani

Patent number: 11530609Abstract: A system for determining a well placement may include an analysis module. The analysis module, using a Bayesian Decision Network model, may perform a first assessment of data availability, saturation, fracture, and seismic data associated with a candidate area for drilling a first well, and may output a first probability that indicates a potential production level of the first well. The analysis module may perform a second assessment of offset, stress, thickness, and porosity data associated with a second, nearby well, and may output a second probability that indicates a potential production level of the first well if a lateral is placed in a layer and at a azimuth direction. The analysis module may perform a third assessment of tortuosity, washout, and porosity data, and a net-to-gross value associated with the first well and may output a third probability that indicates a completion type for the first well.Type: GrantFiled: April 6, 2021Date of Patent: December 20, 2022Assignee: SAUDI ARABIAN OIL COMPANYInventors: Ahmad Mohammad Al-AbdulJabbar, Adel Ali Al-Qahtani

Publication number: 20210302619Abstract: A computer system receives data representing a hydrocarbon reservoir. The data includes a surface location, reservoir property data, mechanical property data, and offset well information of the hydrocarbon reservoir. The computer system generates a three-dimensional (3D) geomechanical model of the hydrocarbon reservoir based on the data. The 3D geomechanical model is for identifying a sweet spot in the hydrocarbon reservoir for drilling and stimulation, and placing a hydrocarbon well in the sweet spot. The computer system determines drilling parameters based on the 3D geomechanical model and the offset well information. The drilling parameters are to reduce an enlargement of a wellbore of the hydrocarbon well. The computer system monitors the drilling parameters until the hydrocarbon well reaches a particular depth from a surface of the Earth. The computer system performs a rigless operation on the hydrocarbon well.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 24, 2020Publication date: September 30, 2021Inventors: Adel Ali Al-Qahtani, Osman Hamid, Khaqan Khan, Waheed Arshad
