    Abstract: A ground warp thread sheet and a pile warp thread sheet are supplied to a shed forming device. Two stop motions on separate planes respectively monitor the pile warp and the ground warp. The ground warp and the pile warp are deflected over a deflecting rod upstream from the shed forming device. The deflecting rod supports the ground warp and directs the pile warp to cross and interpenetrate through the ground warp before being deflected into the back shed. The vertices of the ground warp and pile warp back sheds are thus located on opposite sides of the deflecting rod. The pile warp crosses through the ground warp directly upstream from the deflecting rod, at a steep angle, for example from 45 to 135 °.

    Abstract: A weft thread pre-winder or pre-spooling device for an air jet loom includes a thread storage drum (6) made up of several drum segments (7) that are each adjustable in the radial direction so as to adjust the diameter and circumference of the thread storage drum. Thereby the amount of stored thread can be adjusted. Open gaps or interspaces (8) are formed between respective adjacent drum segments (7), and become larger or smaller depending on the radial adjustment of the segments. Especially for threads that form only a small thread balloon while being drawn-off from the thread storage drum, the threads would tend to get into these interspaces and become caught on the edges or corners of the drum segments, which would lead to energy losses in the thread and interfere with the proper weft insertion and thread transport.

    Abstract: Ground warp and pile warp thread sheets are supplied to a shed forming device. The ground warp and the pile warp are separately deflected over a deflecting rod upstream from the shed forming device. The deflecting rod supports the ground warp and directs the pile warp to cross and interpenetrate through the ground warp before deflecting the pile warp into the back shed. The deflecting rod is positively driven and controlled to pivot about a horizontal axis to provide a positive controlled partial compensation of the pile warp thread length variations. The pile warp also runs over a pile warp thread reserve and compensating device upstream from the thread crossing location to provide an additional passive uncontrolled compensation of the pile warp thread length variations and to provide a pile warp thread reserve during the pile loop formation and/or the shed changes in the weaving process.

    Abstract: An electromagnet exhibits in its energization curve (I=f(t)) a characteristic feature or indicator, for example, in the form of a dip (1′, 2′) in the energization current. This indicator is used to control the operation of the magnet, for example, to synchronize its operation with that of another magnet. In a loom the operation of a weft stop magnet positioned next to a weft prewinder may be synchronized with the operation of a solenoid driving a valve that supplies air to the main weft insertion nozzle and/or relay nozzles. A magnet may also be controlled with reference to rated operation values so that its actual operation value coincides with the rated value or values or at least is maintained within a permissible tolerance range of rated values. The control takes place in closed loop fashion, for example, through the main loom control.

    Abstract: The starting time of a weft thread insertion in a jet loom is automatically adapted to a change in the speed of the main loom drive shaft, in order to assure that the leading end of the weft thread always arrives at the same time at a weft stop motion device at an exit end of a weft insertion channel through the loom shed. For this purpose, the starting time of the weft insertion is advanced when the loom drive shaft rpm is increased and delayed when the rpm is decreased. The advance or delay has reference to a weaving cycle that begins with the opening of a shed and ends when the shed is fully closed.     Abstract: Different groups of warp threads are subject to different variations of warp thread tension during shed changes, especially when weaving a fabric having portions such as fabric edges with different weave binding patterns. To provide different warp thread tension compensation for the different thread groups, a cam-like first tensioning module is arranged protruding from the circumferential surface of the backrest along the entire operating width thereof. Second and third tensioning modules are arranged and engaged over the first tensioning module at particular selected axial locations on the backrest. While the second and third tensioning modules provide a constant deflection path distance for second and third warp thread groups guided thereover, the first tensioning module provides a varying deflection path distance for the first warp thread group guided thereover, depending on the oscillating rotational angular position of the backrest.

    Abstract: Filament threads such as rayon threads which may be smooth or partly texturized for protection, are texturized or entangled in the loom just prior to their insertion into a loom shed as weft threads. For this purpose a texturizer (4) is positioned between a filament thread supply spool (1) and a weft thread accumulator (3). The accumulator in turn is positioned just upstream of an air insertion nozzle (11) for injecting the weft threads into a loom shed. The texturizing is sufficient to lock the filaments into the filament thread body so that these texturized filaments form threads that can be pneumatically transported through the loom shed without causing so-called blow-outs of individual filaments out of the weft thread body.

The entrance and exit each have a recess (4, 5) surrounded by a respective rim portion (7, 8) of a rim surrounding the thread guide eyelet (2A, 2B). Each rim portion (7, 8) has an edge with a curved ring surface (R1 and/or R3) surrounding the respective entrance (10) and exit (11). The entrance and exit curved ring surfaces are spaced from the bore ring surface or bead (9) so that a thread passing through the thread guide has a small surface area contact with these curved ring surfaces to reduce friction while providing a positive guidance for the thread.

    Abstract: A method and apparatus remove a faulty weft thread from a beat-up edge or cloth fell by pulling its leading end with a pneumatic thread removal device, which adaptably takes into account the thread characteristics and particularly the twist of the thread. The method maintains the twist of the thread by generating a simultaneously sucking and rotating airflow in the thread removal device, wherein the direction of rotation of the flow is controlled to coincide with the direction of the twist of the weft thread.     Abstract: The weaving of terry cloth is improved by preventing slackening of the warp threads during beat-up. The warp threads are kept in contact with a warp tensioning faller roller (8) at all times. For this purpose the faller roller (8) is eccentrically mounted and biased by a spring (46) retraction force applied through a control lever (48). The force of the spring (46) is in balance with the tension on the warp threads (4), whereby the spring (46) causes a warp length compensation during shed formation. A piston rod (52A) of a piston cylinder drive (52) acts on the control lever (48) of the faller roller (8). By pressurizing the cylinder (52), the faller roller (8) is tilted about an eccentrically mounted bearing shaft (14) and a rated pile warp thread length (54) is delivered or fed, without the pile warp threads (4) lifting away from the faller roller (8).

    Abstract: A weft thread insertion nozzle includes a thread supply tube (3) and a mixing tube (8) arranged in axial alignment in a housing (4). An outlet end section (3A) of the thread supply tube (3) reaches into and overlaps an inlet section (8A) of the mixing tube (8), with an airflow channel (5A) provided between the outlet end section (3A) and the inlet section (8A). A plurality of notches (11) or through-holes (13, 14, and 15) are arranged distributed around the circumference of the outlet end section (3A). The jet medium accelerated through the airflow channel (5A) can enter the tube (3) through the notches (11) or holes (13, 14, and 15), whereby the jet medium expands and entrains the weft thread before entering into the mixing tube. By shifting the air expansion and entrainment of the weft thread upstream, turbulence is avoided and the weft thread is more gently and positively entrained so as to improve the performance of the insertion nozzle.
