  • Patent number: 6959674
Abstract: A valve gear mechanism for an internal combustion engine includes a camshaft in a separate cylinder head for controlling the stroke of a gas shuttle valve by means of an interposed rocker arm, which is mounted in the cylinder head of a piston that performs a lifting motion of a hydraulic valve-play compensation element. The aim of the invention is to achieve a play-free surface liaison of mechanical origin between the actuating elements of the gas shuttle valve. To achieve this, the piston of the hydraulic compensation element has a device that acts on an instrument for mechanically actuating a lifting stroke in order to achieve a play-free surface liaison of the contract surfaces of the rocker arm and an additional valve gear element, while the valve-play compensation element is maintained hydraulically without pressure.

  • Patent number: 4777912
Abstract: In a cast engine block for liquid-cooled internal combustion engines with V-shaped cylinder arrangement, the cylinders are arranged in cooling medium spaces delimited by cylinder blocks. A spiral housing 10 of a cooling medium pump 11 having a radial rotor is partially integrated into one of the end walls of the engine block within the area of a cylinder block. A gear box adapted to be fastened at the end wall includes a closure wall corresponding to the end walls surface as well as side walls for the sealing abutment of a separate cover. The other part of the spiral housing inclusive a pressure connection is integrated into the closure wall. This spiral housing includes a collar for the plug-in arrangement of the cooling medium pump. The side wall of the gear box is arranged about the collar receiving the cooling medium pump for an arrangement of the cover separate at the gear box from the cooling medium pump.

  • Patent number: 4442672
Abstract: A boost control device for an internal combustion engine with an exhaust gas turbocharger includes a bypass valve in a bypass line parallel to an exhaust gas turbine of the exhaust gas turbocharger, a motor operator for the bypass valve which can be loaded in the opening and closing directions by charge air, a control valve which feeds charge air to the motor operator as a function of boost pressure, where the control valve feeds charge air to the motor operator of the bypass valve in the closing direction up to a pre-established boost pressure and this feed can be vented to the environment by the control valve, and a pressure control valve which can be loaded by the charge air in the opening direction. The pressure control valve is loaded in the closing direction by a barometric plug which is exposed to ambient pressure and is prestressed as a function of at least one of the ambient temperature and the charge air temperature.
