  • Patent number: 5434377
Abstract: A pushbutton electrical switch assembly, having a particularly low profile and having uniform illumination, includes a lighting system within the housing of the pushbutton electrical switch assembly, the lighting system having four light diodes that are squarely arranged upon a printed circuit. Switching members in the form of microswitches together with the lighting system are arranged adjacent to each other and transversely to the direction of displacement of a pushbutton that is slidably arranged within the housing. The microswitches take a position in which the direction of movement of the actuation member and the direction of movement of the microswitches are perpendicular to each other. The printed circuit and the microswitches are fitted in a sandwich-type manner between flanges of lower and upper housing portions, with the housing portions being connected without screws.

  • Patent number: 5408061
Abstract: In the subject emergency stop switch the closing ring penetrates through a face plate, surrounds a pushbutton, and on its rear side is in communication with a control element that is provided for the guidance of a cam, preloaded via a first spring. A first plunger element, in connection with the pushbutton, includes elements for the reception of the cam and the first spring and an adaptor, superimposed on a contact block, surrounds the control element, with the first plunger element actuating, upon a force input via the pushing of the pushbutton, a contact carrier, guided by a contact block, against the resilient force provided by springs. In this manner the contact sets are opened and arched contact arms are utilized which are accessible via connecting terminals with the contact arms being pretensioned in such a manner that they close the contact upon the pushing of the pushbutton.

  • Patent number: 5390766
Abstract: An indicator panel for an elevator car has a door behind which an emergency calling device is located for users of the elevator. The door is opened and closed by a door handle attached to the outer surface of the door. The handle has a body with a raised printed character formed on a front surface for identifying the emergency calling device. An enlarged lower portion of the front surface is formed by an outwardly extending flange spaced from a rear surface of the body and serving as a door operating aid. A raised information aid is formed on the enlarged lower portion and includes at least one Braille character identifying the emergency calling device. A further door operating aid is a recess formed in the rear surface of the body for retaining a pencil or the like. The body and the printed character can be formed by molding different color materials with the printed character extending from a cavity formed in the rear surface through an aperture in the front surface.

  • Patent number: 5174675
Abstract: A guide bar for an elevator door includes a beam having a plurality of attachment apertures formed therein for the attachment of a guide, sliding or roller. The apertures are arranged in a staggered pattern providing for numerous adjustment possibilities for the guide to accommodate variations between the door and a guide track for the door. The guide is attached to a first horizontal web of the beam and extends into a groove mortised into the door sill, whereby the elevator door is guided at the lower end along a predetermined sliding track. Each aperture is formed from three overlapping circular recesses, the center points of which form an isosceles triangles such that bolt heads of fasteners are supported on at least two thirds of their circumference by the first web. The center points of the recesses of the apertures are staggered with respect to the center points of each of the other recesses in a direction transverse of the first web by a step width to provide a plurality of adjustment possibilities.

  • Patent number: 4988986
Abstract: A display module having a housing constructed to mechanically interlock with the housings of adjacent modules of like construction to form a multiple unit display having either a single display row, or a cluster having first and second display rows. The modules of a display row interlock via male and female dove tail extrusions integrally formed with the module housings, while modules of adjacent first and second display rows interlock via cooperative projections and recesses integrally formed with the module housings and via a common electrical conductor which mechanically and electrically interconnects electrical terminals of adjacent display rows to hold the first and second display rows in assembled relation while simplifying electrical connections to the cluster. A single mounting projection per housing provides support for mounting a row or cluster to a face plate, by selection of predetermined orientations of the modules.

  • Patent number: 4847458
Abstract: An electric switch which translates a pivotable toggle motion to a rectilinear contact engaging and breaking movement, including an actuator assembly and a contact assembly which are clamped together during assembly with a face plate. The actuator assembly facilitates assembly by capturing a pivotable operating lever between a halo which adapts the actuator assembly to a face plate, and a halo adapter which adapts the actuator assembly to the contact assembly. The contact assembly includes a movable contact carrier to which a cam is fixed. The cam includes a recess which defines spaced lateral stops, and a cam surface which slopes axially inward between the spaced lateral stops, with the operating lever having a cam actuator end which enters the recess and rides on the cam surface.

  • Patent number: 4822963
Abstract: A vandal resistant push button assembly, and a method of constructing same in which excess force applied to the button is transferred via a metallic halo into a metallic face plate. The exposed surfaces of the button and halo are spherical, having the same center and radii, providing a smoothly blending curved surface which continues to just below the plane of the exposed face plate surface. A shoulder in the face plate for supporting the halo and enabling the exposed halo surface to enter the plane of the face plate surface is formed by metal displacement, as opposed to metal removal, enabling the required mechanical strength to be achieved with a thinner face plate.

  • Patent number: 4742198
Abstract: A push button assembly having a halo which interfaces with a face plate opening, a halo adapter which interfaces the halo and an electrical switch, and a switch actuator carried by the halo and halo adapter which cooperatively nest to define an actuator housing within which the actuator is movable between first and second axial limits established by the halo and halo adapter, respectively. In a preferred embodiment, the halo also carries a push button identification plate within a single face plate opening.

  • Patent number: 4728756
Abstract: A multiple position, multiple contact key switch, and method of constructing same, including an electrical contact module having a housing defined by first and second separable housing members which snap together in a direction perpendicular to the longitudinal rotational axis of the key switch. The first and second housing members each carry contact sets which alternate with one another along the longitudinal axis. Each housing member includes posts which extend towards the opposing housing member, to maintain the desired positions of the elements of the contact sets carried by the opposing housing member. An arbor is mounted for rotation within the housing, with the arbor having cams spaced along the rotational axis for actuating the contact sets. A halo module and a lock module form a subassembly which is coupled with the electrical contact module, with adjacent ends of the lock module and electrical contact module engaging to transmit rotary motion of the lock module to rotary motion of the arbor.
