  • Patent number: 7419713
Abstract: The invention describes a composite component based on a sandwich structure, composed of: (a) at least two outer layers which independently of each other comprised at least one film, sheet, fiber mat and/or foam made from metal, plastic, glass, natural material and/or carbon, and (b) a core positioned between the outer layers, made from metal, plastic, natural material and/or paper having a large number of cavities, in which a casting resin system at least partially penetrates the outer layers and the core and the outer layers are bonded to the core by press molding. The composite component is characterised in that in at least one area of the sandwich structure the outer layers are pressed together and the compressed area of the sandwich structure is encapsulated with thermoplastic polymer. Composite base on a sandwich structure are obtained by encapsulating at least one area of the two outer layers. The encapsulating area is that area of the two outer layers have been pressed together.

  • Patent number: 6156811
Abstract: Molded polyurethane articles are made by reacting polyisocyanates with polyol compositions obtained by chemical decomposition of polyurethane and/or polyurea waste in a mold. The polyol compositions employed in this invention have an OH value of from about 100 to about 500 mg KOH/g, a water content of from 0 to about 5 wt. % and a viscosity at 20.degree. C. of more than 2,000 mPa.s. These molded polyurethane articles preferably have a sandwich structure in which the core is a polyurethane and there is at least one outer layer made from an optionally fiber-reinforced plastic material. These molded polyurethane articles are useful in the motor vehicle, furniture, machine and equipment manufacturing industries.
