Publication number: 20160381118Abstract: A system is provided for presenting content on a companion computing device associated with a primary computing device. A web-resource micro-app package is configured, when operating in concert with a companion manager executing on the primary computing device, to control the delivery and presentation of content on the companion computing device. The web-resource micro-app package is cross-platform and thus operable, without modification, with any of a number of different operating systems with which the companion manager and primary computing device might be associated. The web-resource micro-app package includes a location of a web-resource, identification of predetermined content items to be extracted from the web-resource, and presentation parameters for formatting a content group including at least some of the predetermined content items for presentation on the companion computing device.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 2, 2015Publication date: December 29, 2016Inventors: Anthony Andrews, Ali Alvi, Adrian Dumitrascu, Yuan-Chun Chiu, Ji Jeong Kang, William Shelor, Scott Hanselman

Patent number: 8028225Abstract: Various technologies and techniques are disclosed for creating and managing a visual representation of OLAP attributes and relationships for a dimension. A visual representation is generated that contains an arrangement of shapes with connections between shapes. One or more sub-elements are contained within at least some of the shapes. Connections between the shapes represent relationships between attributes in an OLAP dimension. The containment of a respective sub-element within a respective shape represents a relationship between an attribute being represented by the respective sub-element and an attribute being represented by the respective shape. Shapes representing OLAP attributes and relationships can be programmatically grouped and ungrouped.Type: GrantFiled: November 21, 2007Date of Patent: September 27, 2011Assignee: Microsoft CorporationInventors: Robert B. Zare, Adrian Dumitrascu, Aleksandar Juric, Maria Potapova, Matthew E. Carroll

Patent number: 7885978Abstract: The subject invention relates to systems and methods that extend the network data access capabilities of mark-up language protocols. In one aspect, a network data modeling system is provided. The system includes a protocol component that employs a computerized mark-up language to facilitate data interactions between network components. An extension component operates with the protocol component to support the data transactions, where the extension component supplies various commands above standard network and database protocols. An object model is provided as a wrapper to the extensions in order to support various online and offline database development applications.Type: GrantFiled: March 1, 2005Date of Patent: February 8, 2011Assignee: Microsoft CorporationInventors: Adrian Dumitrascu, Cristian Petculescu, Matthew E. Carroll, Paul J. Sanders, Thomas P. Conlon, Amir Netz, Oleg Lvovitch

Patent number: 7870540Abstract: A system that facilitates validating an object in a software design tool comprises a component that receives input relating to development of an object. A validating component, prior to compile, automatically determines whether the object is associated with an error upon receipt of the input. An alarm component can generate an alarm upon the validating component determining that the object is associated with an error.Type: GrantFiled: January 11, 2005Date of Patent: January 11, 2011Assignee: Microsoft CorporationInventors: Robert B. Zare, Andriy Garbuzov, Adrian Dumitrascu, Matthew E. Carroll

Patent number: 7689703Abstract: The subject invention relates to systems and methods that extend the network data access capabilities of mark-up language protocols. In one aspect, a network data transfer system is provided. The system includes a protocol component that employs a computerized mark-up language to facilitate data interactions between network components, whereby the data interactions were previously limited or based on a statement command associated with the markup language. An extension component operates with the protocol component to support the data transactions, where the extension component supplies at least one other command from the statement command to facilitate the data interactions.Type: GrantFiled: March 1, 2005Date of Patent: March 30, 2010Assignee: Microsoft CorporationInventors: Mosha Pasumansky, Marius Dumitru, Adrian Dumitrascu, Cristian Petculescu, Akshai M. Publication number: 20090132574Abstract: Various technologies and techniques are disclosed for integrating best design practices with a database. Rules for best design practices are integrated into an object model of a database. As the database design changes, violations to the rules are detected. Notifications are output for the violations of the rules. The system detects when a change to the database design that is made in a development environment causes a violation to a best design practice. The violation to the best design practice is indicated to the user. A database can be validated upon request to detect any violations of best design practices. A request is received to validate a selected database for best design practices. A best design practices check is performed against the selected database to identify if any violations are present. Any violations are output that were identified while performing the best design practices check.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 19, 2007Publication date: May 21, 2009Applicant: MICROSOFT CORPORATIONInventors: Adrian Dumitrascu, Matthew E.
