    Abstract: An authentication mark system and method are provided for authentication of an object having indicia associated therewith. The authentication mark system includes an inkjet printer configured to propel microscopic ink drops onto the object to form a pattern of ink on the object. A microscope camera has a lens directable at the pattern of ink on the object. The microscope camera records an enlarged image of the pattern of ink on the object. A processor is operatively connected to the microscope camera and is configured to transmit the enlarged image of the pattern of ink and the indicia associated with the object to a database for secure storage.

    Abstract: A removable sealing strip and method is provided for sealing a lid removably secured to a top portion of a container. The removable sealing strip includes a strip removably affixed to a substrate and has a first portion extending from a first end thereof, a second portion extending from the first portion, and a third portion extending between the second portion of the strip and a second end thereof. The strip is foldable along a fold line such that an inner surface of the first portion of strip binds to an to inner surface of the second portion of the strip so as to define a tab on the strip. The inner surface of the third portion of the strip is affixable to the lid and to the top portion of the container to substantially inhibits removal of the lid from the top portion of the container. The tab is configured to facilitate removal of the third portion of the strip from the lid and the top portion of the container.

In one aspect, a user can be guided by the system to make various selections and/or inputs, such as selecting between rolls or sheets, types of material, size/measurements, shape(s), color(s), and the like, in progressing stages of a customized label build, with a displayed graphic of a corresponding arrangement of labels being continuously updated instantly at each stage to visually reflect the user's input. Upon completion, the system can communicate with an industrial machine to build the labels for the user consistent with the input as depicted by the graphic.

    Abstract: A roll of label web and method utilize a length of first label web having a plurality of longitudinally spaced adhesive-backed labels removably attached to a substrate wound around a tubular core in such a manner that a first and last label of the first label web are fully intact and usable. The leading and trailing ends of the first label web are cut between labels. The trailing end of the first label web is releasably attached to the core by double-sided releasable adhesive tabs that allow the trailing end of the first label web to pull free from the core for printing the last label. The leading end of the first label web is temporarily secured to the roll by adhesive tabs that are removable without damaging the first label of the first label web.

The method includes the steps of providing a collection card with inner and outer layers laminated to each other and removing a first portion of the inner layer to expose an adhesive on a first portion of the outer layer. The piece of physical evidence is positioned between a second portion of the inner layer and the first portion of the outer layer. Thereafter, the first portion of the outer layer is folded over the second portion of the inner layer so as to capture the piece of physical evidence therebetween.

    Abstract: A method of associating a tamper evident tag with an article is provided. The method includes the steps of providing the tamper evident tag with first and second layers laminated to each other and inserting a fastener through the article at a user selected location thereof. A terminal end of the fastener is positioned on a second layer of the tamper evident tag and a first portion of the second layer is removed to expose an adhesive on a first portion of the first layer. The first portion of the first layer of the tamper evident tag is folded over a second portion of the first layer so as to capture a second portion of the inner layer between the first and second portions of the first layer and to capture the terminal end of the fastener between the first portion of the first layer and the second portion of the second layer of the tamper evident tag thereby retaining the article on the fastener.
