  • Patent number: 10248743
Abstract: Four-dimensional fluid flow data is received that is associated with a time dimension and I, J, and K dimensions. The four-dimensional fluid flow data includes, for each of plural time steps, a fluid flow amount for the respective time step and for a respective I, J, K cell. Using the four-dimensional fluid flow data and for each of plural time steps, a four-dimensional geocellular model is determined having I, J, K and t dimensions and indicating, for each I, J, K, t cell, an amount of a fluid flowing through the I, J, K cell for a respective time step t. A three-dimensional time-independent model is determined for the I, J, K cell. A two-dimensional time-independent model is determined that includes a cumulative fluid flow amount for each I, J cell.

  • Publication number: 20180119533
Abstract: A well system that intersects a subterranean formation, and which includes a motherbore disposed in a non-producing formation that is between producing zones. Connate fluids in the formation can be produced with the well system; alternatively, fluids can be injected into the formation through the well system. Lateral wellbores extend from the motherbore to depths that are both deeper and shallower than the motherbore. Flow to/from each lateral wellbore can be controlled by an inflow control valve. Wellhead assemblies mounted over an opening of the well system can be at a location that is spaced away from a populated area and far away from the hydrocarbon formation.

  • Patent number: 8672034
Abstract: A wellbore system and a method of forming the wellbore system, where the wellbore system is made up of a primary wellbore that is disposed entirely above a producing zone and lateral wellbores that extend from the primary wellbore into the producing zone. By penetrating the producing, or target, zone with the lateral wellbores, fractures in the target zone can be better avoided thereby increasing the potential amount of recoverable hydrocarbon. Optionally, wellbore systems are included that have more than a single primary wellbore. Further disclosed is a method of maximizing wellbore production by selectively blocking designated lateral wellbores in which water or other non-hydrocarbon fluid is detected.
