  • Patent number: 10226180
Abstract: A histopathology system includes an elongated, cylindrical probe having therein one or more scanners connected to a distal end of the probe and configured to capture digital images of tissue. Neuro-navigation circuitry is configured to navigate the probe to a tissue examination site. The probe is inserted into an outer casing having a mesh plate integrally formed at a distal tip of the outer casing through which a tissue is drawn. At least one balloon is attached to an inner surface of the outer casing and when inflated creates a pressure differential that draws the tissue into viewing range of the one or more scanners. At least one server is configured to digitally stain a tissue image obtained by the one or more scanners of the tissue, and match the tissue images to one or more stored tissue samples.
