  • Patent number: 11654011
Abstract: The invention is directed to a system and methods for treating neurovascular compression. Certain preferred embodiments of the invention generally comprise an apparatus having an elongated body portion including a proximal anchor element and distal anchor element. The apparatus also may include one or more marker elements to facilitate placement of the apparatus by the user. The apparatus may be configured to permit the user, after insertion and deployment of the apparatus in a blood vessel, to move the blood vessel so that the blood vessel is no longer in contact with and compressing a nerve or other parts of the nervous system.

  • Publication number: 20100280594
Abstract: Disclosed is an antithrombotic neurovascular device useful for the treatment of brain aneurysms and/or acute ischemic stroke. The device comprises a mechanical structure, which may be a stent, stent-like structure, or flow diverter, and a drug-eluting coating. This device is designed for local delivery of antiplatelet medication to the site of device implantation in order to improve outcomes for the population of brain aneurysm and/or acute ischemic stroke patients currently being treated with stents, and for use with patients presenting with ruptured aneurysms, in whom systemic dual antiplatelet therapy is contraindicated. The coating comprises an antiplatelet drug, preferably, a GPIIb/IIIa receptor inhibitor, more preferably, abcixmab, and optionally comprises a polymeric binder that functions as a drug modulating polymer. Also disclosed are methods for producing the antithrombotic neurovascular device, and using the device for the treatment of brain aneurysms and/or acute ischemic stroke.

  • Publication number: 20040102805
Abstract: A method for placing a medical agent at a location within a patient's vessel. In the illustrative embodiment, an embolic coil is placed at a location with an aneurysm. The method comprises the steps of providing a catheter having a proximal end and a distal end, a balloon adjacent to the distal end, an inflation port at the proximal end communicating via an inflation lumen with the balloon, a delivery port at the proximal end communicating with a delivery lumen, a guidewire opening at the distal end communicating with the delivery lumen, and a side opening adjacent the distal end and spaced from the guidewire opening and also communicating with the delivery lumen. The catheter is preloaded with a guidewire extending from the delivery port through the delivery lumen and distal of the guidewire opening. Thereafter, the catheter is introduced into the vessel of a patient to generally align the side opening with the aneurysm. The balloon is inflated to stabilize the position of the catheter.

  • Publication number: 20020025267
Abstract: A micro-injection pump for angiography and micro-intervention procedures comprises first and second linear traverses each have a pusher element movable by stepper motor drive for controlling discharge from a respective micro-syringe engaged by the pusher element. The first micro-syringe preferably contains a volume of a soluble contrast medium, and the second micro-syringe preferably contains a volume of an insoluble contrast medium. Fluid discharged by the micro-syringes is directed to a bifurcated micro-droplet generator having a straight primary passage and an obliquely merging tributary passage. Insoluble contrast medium from the second micro-syringe flows through a micro-sized injection needle extending partially and coaxially within the primary passage to a termination point just downstream from where the tributary passage joins the primary passage.
