  • Patent number: 7494570
Abstract: An apparatus in a paper or cardboard machine for confining the pulp flow coming from the headbox (1), said apparatus comprising at least one deckle system, which comprises a deckle part (2) and supporting elements supporting the deckle part, said deckle part being so arranged that in its service position it confines the pulp flow from the headbox in the sideways direction in the edge area of the wire (3). The deckle part (2) has been arranged to be supported so as to be movable in the longitudinal direction of the machine and that the deckle part (2) additionally comprises a mounting point (21) at which the deckle part is (2) secured so that, in the service position, it is substantially immovable at least in the longitudinal direction of the machine.

  • Publication number: 20080236775
Abstract: A method in a paper or board machine for confining a pulp flow coming from the headbox (1), in which by at least one deckle part (2) being above the wire in the operating position the pulp flow coming from the headbox is confined in the lateral direction in the edge area of the wire (3). In the method, by a support part (50) impervious to liquid being below the wire (3) together with the deckle part (2) into connection with which liquid is brought, a pressure effect is provided which furthers the sealing between the deckle board (2) and the wire (3) and intensifies the lubrication of at least one sealing surface of the deckle (2). The invention also relates to an apparatus.

  • Publication number: 20030015306
Abstract: An extended-nip press is disclosed comprising a press roll (2) and a backing roll (1), wherein the press roll (2) comprises a rotating endless-loop blanket (3) of a flexible, liquid-impervious material, a rigid and advantageously stationary roll support beam (4) that extends axially through the interior of the endless blanket (3), at least one shoe element (8) resting on the roll support beam (4) and having a concave top face, and loading means (6) for loading the shoe element (8) by way of pressing the concave top face thereof against the flexible endless-loop blanket (3) so as to make the blanket (3) form a press nip zone (N) in cooperation with the backing roll (1), said loading means (6) comprising a linear array of loading units (6′) aligned along the axial direction of the press roll (2), each one of the loading units comprising a functionally cooperating piston-cylinder unit.
