  • Patent number: 10794298
Abstract: An engine promoting activation of a catalyst is provided, including an exhaust manifold, an exhaust lead-out path led out from a manifold exit of the exhaust manifold, a catalyst case provided on the exhaust lead-out path, and a catalyst housed in the catalyst case. The exhaust manifold and the catalyst case are extended in the front-back direction of crankshaft extension and disposed side by side orthogonally to the front-back direction. The engine may further include a supercharger attached to the exit of the exhaust manifold, and the catalyst case is attached to a turbine exit of the supercharger. The engine may further include an exhaust relay pipe attached to the exit of the exhaust manifold, and the catalyst case is attached to a relay pipe exit of the exhaust relay pipe. The engine may further include an exhaust throttle device provided on an exhaust downstream side of the catalyst.

  • Patent number: 10704435
Abstract: A breather device for an engine which prevents a blow-by gas outlet passage from being blocked due to freezing, is provided, which includes a valve holder in a cylinder head cover and a breather valve supported by the holder. The holder includes a holder body having a valve port of the breather valve, a metal outlet passage pipe having a blow-by gas outlet passage formed inside, the blow-by gas outlet passage communicating with the valve port and being located below the valve port, and a heater that heats the outlet passage pipe. An outer peripheral surface of the outlet passage pipe is wrapped with the holder body formed of a material having lower thermal conductivity than that of the outlet passage pipe. The holder body has a heater insertion port, and the heater is inserted from the heater insertion port toward a heat input wall of the outlet passage pipe.

  • Patent number: 8534239
Abstract: It is an object of the invention to provide a multi-cylinder diesel engine in which a thermal damage of a common rail, and a rise in fuel temperature can be suppressed. In order to achieve the object, a multi-cylinder diesel engine in which, while the extension direction of a crank shaft 1 is set to the anteroposterior direction, a common rail 3 which is directed in the anteroposterior direction is placed above an intake manifold 2, and an engine cooling fan 4 is placed in front of the engine is configured so that the width direction of the engine which is perpendicular to the anteroposterior direction is set to the lateral direction, an air intake portion 6 of the intake manifold 2 is placed on the outer lateral side of the both lateral sides of the common rail 3, the outer lateral side being opposite to a head cover 5, and the common rail 3 is placed in a place to which engine cooling air produced by the engine cooling fan 4 is blown.
