  • Patent number: 5649227
Abstract: The system for supporting input or reference of a data value or a structure value which is a component of a PDU (Protocol Data Unit). The abstract syntax of PDU is defined in accordance with ISO8824 (international standard ASN.1 (Abstract Syntax Notation One) specification) and the PDU is encoded/decoded conforming to ASN.1 basic encoding rules in ISO8825. The data value and the structure value are described in the form of substitute statement of the abstract syntax identifier.

  • Patent number: 5613100
Abstract: A computer system for an open systems interconnection (OSI) management system capable of handling non-open systems as managed objects of the OSI management system. The system comprises an open system agent which intervenes between an open system manager and the non-open systems. The open system agent has a non-open system-communication unit for communicating with the non-open systems, a manager-communication unit for communicating with the open system manager, an information converting unit for converting the non-open system information format using information provided by the non-open system-communication unit and for converting the OSI management information format using information provided by the manager-communication unit.

  • Patent number: 5418963
Abstract: In a protocol encoding/decoding device for use in syntax translation between an abstract syntax which is a set of data types described by an Abstract Syntax Notation One (ASN.1) and a transfer syntax, a structure generating unit (28) automatically generating, on the basis of a predetermined conversion rule, structures corresponding to data structure represented by the abstract syntax stored in the abstract syntax storage (10). The structures are stored in a structure storage (14). An AST generating unit (32) automatically generates an ASN.1 syntax tree (AST) which represents the data structure of the abstract syntax. The AST is stored in an AST storage (18). On encoding, a user program (26) inputs data values in the structure storage (14). On encoding, a VTL generating function (16G) automatically generates a VTL on the basis of the data values stored in the structure storage (14).

  • Patent number: 5303243
Abstract: In a network system comprising first through N-th agents, each of which performs a management operation on a management object (N representing a predetermined natural number which is not less than two), an active manager for managing the first through the N-th agents, and a backup manager for managing the first through the N-th agents when a fault occurs in the active manager, the active manager includes a fault detecting unit for detecting the fault in the active manager to produce a fault detection signal. Supplied with the fault detection signal, the backup managing process delivers a name signal representative of a backup manager name assigned to the backup manager as an indicated name to the first through the N-th agents through backup transmitting/receiving unit and the circuit switching device. In each of the first through the N-th agents, an agent process stores, as a stored manager name, the indicated name in a memory unit on reception of the name signal.

  • Patent number: 5263137
Abstract: A syntax converting apparatus performs conversions between an abstract syntax and a transfer syntax in a presentation layer, defined by an Open Systems Interconnection (OSI). The presentation layer determines the syntax, which describes application processes, and exchanges this syntax with a syntax to be transferred. The syntax converting apparatus is capable of separately decomposing presentation protocol data units (PDUs), which are defined by two different standards, for example, Standard x and Standard y. This is accomplished using a decoding and a decomposing unit in the presentation layer. The decoding unit decodes data strings encoded in accordance with ISO 8825 ASN.1 Basic Encoding Rules, and the decomposing unit decomposes this decoded data with each of the protocol specification units, describing the abstract syntax thereof.

  • Patent number: 5257371
Abstract: In a network management system installing object class defining information, the benefits of altering object class definitions and responding to real time instance generation requests are both available. The system includes a first region for storing object class definitions, a second region for storing instances of the class for which generation is requested and a third region for storing a class information table for updating. The contents of the third region are generated or updated by batch processing on the basis of the first region. Real time processing means generates or updates the contents of the second region on the basis of the contents of the third region.

  • Patent number: 4994998
Abstract: In a data structuring apparatus, input character strings written in accordance with the specification of ISO/8824/ASN.1 are decomposed and keywords representative of types and attributes are detected from the decomposed character strings. Type nodes are created from the detected type representative keywords and attribute nodes are created from the attribute representative keywords. Internode linking means is provided for establishing links between the type nodes and the attribute nodes according to hierarchical relationships between them and forming a tree structure by the established links. The tree structure is traced and the input character strings are translated according to the traced tree structure into a declaration sentence which can be processed by a computer program.
