  • Publication number: 20090044300
Abstract: An object of the present invention is to provide a transformed plant which has high photosynthesis activity, and has promoted growth and productivity as compared with a wild strain, and has no fear of diffusion of an introduced gene by pollens, by expressing a trait of a specified gene by chloroplast technology in a higher plant. According to the present invention, there is provided a transformed plant using a gene recombinant vector having an expression cassette for enhancing photosynthesis activity, containing a DNA fragment comprising a gene encoding a protein having fructose-1,6-bisphosphatase sedoheptulose-1,7-bisphosphatase activities between a nucleotide sequence complementary to the chloroplast gene rbcL and the chloroplast gene aacD.

  • Publication number: 20070218150
Abstract: It is intended to provide a composition containing wild watermelon extract. More specifically speaking, it is intended to provide an active oxygen scavenging agent containing wild watermelon extract, a method of producing the same and a method of using the same, and a moisturizing agent containing wild watermelon extract, a method of producing the same and a method of using the same. Attention is paid to the facts that wild watermelon juice per se employed as an active oxygen eliminator shows an activity of eliminating active oxygen about 10 times higher citrulline, which is contained in wild watermelon juice, at the same concentration and that wild watermelon extract has not only the ability to eliminate active oxygen but also a favorable moisturizing effect.

  • Publication number: 20040093638
Abstract: According to the present invention, a novel method for promoting fatty acid content in a plant is provided. In this method, the promoter of accD gene of acetyl-CoA carboxylase was replaced with a promoter directing abundant expression in plastids and chloroplasts by using plastid transformation. This method increases the carboxyltransferase beta subunit protein encoded by the accD gene. Accompanied with it, the other subunits constituting the acetyl-CoA carboxylase apparently increases and this enzyme increases. Since the acetyl-CoA carboxylase is a key enzyme for rate-limiting step of fatty acid synthesis, synthesis of fatty acid can be promoted by the method of the present invention. The transformed plant produced according to the method of the present invention exhibits remarkable enhancement in the fatty acid content in leaves and seeds. Moreover, the leaf longevity extended and the number of the seeds per a plant body increased, thereby seed oil and productivity of the plant are improved.
