  • Publication number: 20200089440
Abstract: A server system that causes one of a plurality of printers to print an image received from an information processing apparatus. A virtual printer determines whether or not a printer capable of performing printing to which both of a first print setting and a second print setting are applied is included in the plurality of printers. In a case where it is determined that a printer capable of performing printing to which the first and second print settings are applied is not included in the plurality of printers, information indicating that the first print setting and the second print setting conflicting with each other is stored as prohibited settings information. The print settings are controlled based on the prohibited settings information.

  • Publication number: 20200073603
Abstract: There is provided a system operable to save a print job received from an information processing apparatus and transmit the print job to one printing device among a plurality of printing devices that are registered in advance, in response to a request from the one printing device. The system comprises a server, the server generates capability information for the plurality of printing devices based on capability information indicating a capability of each printing device of the plurality of printing devices, and updates the generated capability information in a case that the capability information indicating the capability of one of the plurality of printing devices changes. The information processing apparatus generates and displays a print setting screen based on the updated capability information obtained from the server.

  • Publication number: 20190146739
Abstract: An image processing apparatus includes first and second sheet storage units and a post-processing unit to perform specific post-processing on a printed sheet. A print command is received in which a sheet in the first sheet storage unit is specified as a sheet to be used in printing a first copy and a sheet in the second sheet storage unit is specified as a sheet to he used in printing a second copy. In a case where the specific post-processing is unable to he performed on the sheet to be used in printing the first copy, a printed sheet is output without causing the post-processing unit to perform the specific post-processing on the sheets for the first and second copies, even if the print command commands that the specific post-processing be performed in printing the first copy and the second copy.

  • Publication number: 20180084153
Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes a receiving unit, a storage unit, a login state determination unit, and a control unit. The receiving unit receives a facsimile-received document via a network. The storage unit stores the facsimile-received document received by the receiving unit in a reception box. The login state determination unit determines whether a user to be charged is logged in, a user who does not need to be charged is logged in, or no user is logged in. The control unit controls the storage unit to store the facsimile-received document in the reception box instead of outputting the facsimile-received document when the receiving unit receives the facsimile-received document and if the login state determination unit determines that no user is logged in or a user to be charged is logged in.

  • Patent number: 9904882
Abstract: An image forming apparatus, and a method of controlling it. The apparatus performs, in a case where at least one function out of a plurality of functions of the apparatus ceases to be usable, degeneracy control for operating to provide functions other than the at least one function, and stores information indicating a degeneracy control state is entered. The apparatus controls so as to activate without initialization operation of an image forming mechanism in a case where it is determined that the activation is due to the return from a power saving mode and the information is stored and so as to activate with the initialization operation when the activation is due to a power of the apparatus being turned on.

  • Patent number: 9467585
Abstract: It is determined that the multi-function peripheral operates according to a first mode in which user authentication is available and department authentication is not available or operates according to a second mode in which both of the user authentication and department authentication are available. In a case that the multi-function peripheral operates according to the first mode, user authentication information is transmitted to the multi-function peripheral. In a case that the multi-function peripheral operates according to the second mode, authentication information is transmitted to the multi-function peripheral. The authentication information is used to causing the multi-function peripheral to perform selection authentication before performing a job. The selection authentication is one selected from the user authentication and department authentication by a user.

  • Patent number: 9461988
Abstract: An image forming apparatus that is capable of executing authentication processing improved in security of a command including authentication information, which is received over a network from an external apparatus. A CPU receives a command including authentication information via a network. The CPU determines whether or not authentication information included in the received command is a hash value. The CPU causes processing in accordance with the received command to be executed depending on authentication performed based on the authentication information when it is determined that the authentication information is a hash value, and causes the processing not to be executed when it is determined that the authentication information is not a hash value.

  • Publication number: 20160226855
Abstract: An image forming system capable of preventing a change in the data structure of information other than information included in a command transmitted to an image forming apparatus, for use in performing user authentication. Upon receipt of a request command for requesting user authentication from a PC as an information processing apparatus, an MFP as the image forming apparatus determines based on the request command by which of a first authentication method not using a token and a second authentication method using a token is to be performed. When the authentication is to be performed by the second authentication method, the token is generated based on the request command and is transmitted to the PC. The token attached to a token-attached command received from the PC is read out therefrom, and the authentication is performed based on the token read out.
