When it is desired to dispense more than the maximum amount of cash, it carries out multiple dispensing operations. Means are provided for indicating to a user that further cash dispensing operations are to be carried out. This indication occurs no later than during the first such dispensing operation. This indication is provided by a so called "preinforming means" that, in a preferred embodiment, generates a synthetic sound to inform the execution of a next cash dispensing operation when a current cash dispensing operation is completed if the successive cash dispensing operations are carried out.
