  • Patent number: 6089172
Abstract: A lock stitch sewing machine with an automatic thread tension adjusting device is disclosed, wherein the sewing machine has a plurality of thread tension adjusting mechanisms 7, each of which including a pair of thread tension disks 12, 13, one of which is normally pressed by a spring toward the other. A sensor 4 is responsive to the operation of a thread tension releasing lever 20 made by a user with a slight touch applied thereto to give a signal. A CPU1 is responsive to the signal to compare the value of the existing thread tension of the thread tension adjusting mechanisms 7 with a predetermined one. If the value of the existing thread tension is higher than the predetermined one, the CPU1 is operated reduce the value of the existing thread tension to a predetermined one. Thus the tension releasing operation ability is increased.

  • Patent number: 5341454
Abstract: A load of an electronic sewing machine is self-diagonosed by a control system to cause a DC motor to be operated under control to drive upper and lower shafts of the sewing machine. The control system includes an evaluating device to which a voltage value applied to the DC motor and a rotating speed of the DC motor, both detected, are inputted for determining a current value supplied to the DC motor and a power loss of the DC motor. These data are supplied to a fuzzy inference unit for inferring an optimum rotating speed of the DC motor. A control command signal representing an excessive degree of the actual power loss in reference to the rated power loss is outputted from the fuzzy inference unit to the DC motor for the control of the electric power to be supplied thereto.

  • Patent number: 5093892
Abstract: There is disclosed a motor speed control system particularly applicable to control sewing machine operation, including an evaluator to compare a preset speed of revolution value and an actual speed of revolution value to output one signal representing a deviation between the two speeds and the other representing a rate of increase or decrease of the actual speed of revolution within a predetermined short interval. In response to these parameter signals, one of the stored fuzzy rules is selectively applied to output an appropriate control signal to change electric power supplied to a motor as needed to adjust the speed of revolution toward the preset revolution with quick responsivity and smooth transition.

A control command signal representing an amount of the excessive power loss is outputted from the fuzzy theory applying device to the DC motor for the control of the applied voltage. No need to directly measure the current value, and therefore no need to provide a current detecting resistor in a control circuit.

  • Patent number: 5056445
Abstract: A control system is provided for stopping a sewing machine needle at a predetermined position within its reciprocating path. An upper drive shaft rotating at a given rotational speed tends to decrease towards a predetermined lower rotational speed, responsive to a stop command signal. An electric motor is deenergized once the rotational speed reaches the predetermined value, and after that the upper drive shaft continues to rotate by inertia. A pulse number to be generated during the inertia rotation will be determined by an inclination of decrease of rotational speed. Another pulse number to be generated during a period when the stop command signal is generated and when the upper drive shaft rotational speed reaches the predetermined value is determined by application of a selective one or combination of prescribed fuzzy rules, so that the upper drive shaft will come to a standstill at a predetermined position or rotational angle, which governs the predetermined position of the needle.

  • Patent number: 5044292
Abstract: An amount of a lower thread to be supplied from a bobbin in each stitch forming operation is first determined on a theoretical basis in accordance with the stitch control data stored in a pattern memory. The sewing machine is provided with a bobbin rotation detector which detects every rotation of the bobbin to estimate a lower thread amount which has actually been supplied from the bobbin. A control unit compares the theoretical amount and the practical amount to lead out a correction coefficient which will be applied to the theoretical amount for the next stitch forming operation.
