  • Patent number: 7528577
Abstract: An information processor of an electronic apparatus includes a power manager managing power of a secondary battery, and has major functions and a supplementary function. The power manager initiates restriction of the supplementary function, when detected present remaining battery power of the secondary battery is below a threshold. The power manager computes the threshold for the secondary battery or a set operating time for the major functions according to the remaining battery power at the threshold, in accordance with received user input information and power consumption rates corresponding to the major functions. The power manager computes an operating time available for the major functions in accordance with detected remaining battery power of the secondary battery and the power consumption rates corresponding to the major functions.

  • Publication number: 20070188144
Abstract: An information processing unit of an electronic apparatus includes a power manager managing power of a secondary battery, and has major functions and a supplementary function. The power manager initiates restriction of the supplementary functions, when present remaining battery power of the secondary battery as detected by a detector is below a predetermined threshold. The power manager computes one of the predetermined threshold for the secondary battery and a set operating time for the major functions from the remaining battery power at the predetermined threshold, in accordance with the other of the predetermined threshold for the secondary battery and the set operating time for the major functions from the remaining battery power at the predetermined threshold.

  • Patent number: 7134032
Abstract: A portable information device, a power saving mode switching method, and a recording medium in which a power saving mode switching program is stored, for efficiently suppressing power generation peaks. In an information device having a component (1) such as a processor and a component (2) such as a magnetic disk device, it is detected whether it is the peak power generation condition or the peak power completion condition on the basis of access information to the component (2), and a power mode change request is given to a power mode changing means (4); and the power mode changing means (4) changes over the component (1) such as the processor from a normal power mode to a power saving mode where the operating voltage is reduced, the clock frequency is reduced, or the like when the peak power generation condition is detected, and changes over it from the power saving mode to the normal power mode when the peak power completion condition is detected.

  • Publication number: 20050216786
Abstract: The present invention provides a data accumulation system wherein data storage process is simplified by using a portable communication device such as a notebook type PC as a data storage device. The data accumulation system of the invention comprises a pen scanner 21 as a data output device, a notebook type PC 22 as a data storage device and a portable terminal 23 as a data checking terminal. The pen scanner 21 reads a character string or the like in a document as an image and sends data of the image to the note PC 22. The note PC 22 generates thumbnail image data of the image data and sends the data to the portable terminal 23. When the thumbnail image is displayed on a display of the portable terminal 23, a user watches it and checks whether or not the data are worth storing. If the user decides to store the data, the user input a storage command from the portable terminal 23 to the note PC.

Abstract: A printed circuit board (PCB) has a plurality of electromagnetic interference (EMI) reducing circuits, which reduce electromagnetic waves emitted from the PCB, and a plurality of switching devices, such as MOS transistors, relays and DIP switches, to enable and disable the EMI reducing circuits. The EMI reducing circuits connected between border portions of a voltage and a ground layers in the PCB include at least a capacitor. A combination of the EMI reducing circuits which gives a minimum amount of electromagnetic waves emitted from an apparatus including the PCB is selected as a suitable combination of EMI reducing circuits. An information processing apparatus having the printed circuit boards has means for selecting a combination of the EMI reducing circuits which allow the minimum EMI emitted for the apparatus.
