  • Esterification reaction products and cosmetics containing same

    Abstract: There are provided esterification reaction products between a condensate of polyhydric alcohol having 2-4 hydroxyl groups and an acid mixture comprising 12-hydroxy stearic acid and resin acid, the molecule of which has hydroxyl groups of not more than half relative to the total hydroxyl groups of said condensate of polyhydric alcohol. These esterification products are a semitransparent, paste-like substance with a light yellow and suitable properties for use in the basic material for cosmetics.

  • Hydroxy acid esters of higher alcohols

    Abstract: Hydroxy diester compounds are obtained by esterification between malic acid or tartaric acid and a saturated, aliphatic alcohol of 16 or more carbon atoms having side chains. These compounds are a colorless, odorless synthetic oil with low cloud point, which have a wide range of from low viscosity to high viscosity depending on the starting materials. Said synthetic oils are useful for basic oils or emulsions in the fields of cosmetics, detergents and medicinal preparations.
