  • Patent number: 6908169
Abstract: An ink jet recording apparatus provides a plurality of recording heads arranged in a scanning direction, each having a plurality of nozzles arranged substantially perpendicular to the scanning direction, and records by discharging ink from the nozzles onto a recording medium by application of drive signals. The apparatus divides the plurality of nozzles among a plurality of blocks having a predetermined number of nozzles and sequentially drives each block so as to discharge ink within a discharge cycle. The apparatus has a column counter for counting a number of nozzles driven in a discharging cycle in each recording head, and a block counter for counting a number of nozzles driven in each block, and determines a pulsewidth of a heat signal for each recording head by a heat timing controller, based upon count values counted by the column counter and block counter.

  • Patent number: 6782481
Abstract: There is disclosed a power supply apparatus which can reduce consumption power while an electronic device such as a printing apparatus or the like is not in use irrespective of the scale of a control circuit of that device. Such unit supplies electric power from a battery 308 to detect an ON instruction of a power switch 401 even after an OFF instruction to the power switch is detected, so as to detect the ON/OFF instruction to the power switch 401 which is used for controlling electric power supply from a power supply circuit 20 to a print controller 30 of the printing apparatus, and controls to stop power supply from the power supply unit 20 to the print controller 30 upon detecting an OFF instruction to the power switch 401.

  • Patent number: 6016519
Abstract: Disclosed is a system, for exchanging data among a plurality of devices, wherein a device can detect the state of another device without that device being powered on, and whereby usability can be enhanced.According to the system, during data communication a power supply device supplies power to a power reception device, and activates sections necessary for the power reception device. The state of the power reception device is detected by a power management unit, and the information that is obtained is transmitted across a data I/F unit to the power supply device, and stored in a storage unit. Based on the stored status information, the supply of power to the power reception device can be controlled.

  • Patent number: 5988781
Abstract: For enabling variation of specification of a recording apparatus with simple construction, a control board fixedly mounted on the recording apparatus has an engine portion for controlling mechanical operation of the recording apparatus and a control portion for controlling the engine portion. Normally, an interface board is connected to the control board to perform recording operation on the basis of recording signal and so forth from a host system. By installing an optional interface board having a control portion in place of the interface board to control the engine portion of the control board, the specification of the apparatus can be varied.

  • Patent number: 5963224
Abstract: A recording apparatus comprises a recorder for receiving data from a data supplier connected through a control signal line for interface and recording an image onto a recording medium; an interface signal setting circuit which always receives an electric power from a power supply source irrespective of whether the image recording by the recorder is executed or not, thereby setting the level of the control signal line to the low level when the image recording is not executed; and a power switch for setting the mode to perform the image recording when the switch is ON and setting the mode not to perform the image recording when the switch is OFF. The recorder causes a state change in the ink by using a thermal energy which is generated from an electrothermal converter, thereby emitting an ink droplet to the recording medium and recording the image.

  • Patent number: 5936645
Abstract: On the basis of an encoder output pulse generated by useing a linear encoder film provided along a moving path of a carriage, ink ejection timing is determined. Then, the ink ejection timing is set at a timing derived by dividing a period of the output pulse by three, and the pulse period to be divided is the immediately preceding pulse period. By this, even with open loop control of driving of a carriage motor, high precision ejecting position control can be performed.
