  • Patent number: 7551888
Abstract: A media system comprising a broadcast system, a telecommunication system, a content processing system, and a user terminal. While a media stream is broadcast, a group of content items associated with the media stream are generated. The content items are presented in the user terminal in a first mode, wherein a presentation element corresponding to a content item is changed to another presentation element according to the timing information of the content item, or in a second mode wherein a presentation element is changed to another presentation element in response to a user action. Transition from the second mode is allowed only by authorization according to a pre-defined procedure. The interactive operations are thus controlled by the user and thus not overridden by content timed or pushed to the user terminal for display.

  • Patent number: 7304585
Abstract: A device stores one or more compression rules for an action language. Upon receipt of a signal from a tag (such as an RFID tag, a visual tag, or an audio tag), a compressed data stream corresponding to the tag is decoded from the signal. Based on the one or more compression rules, one or more action parameters are derived from the compressed data stream. With these parameters, a corresponding action is performed. The action may include communicating across a wireless communications network as well as obtaining content from a remote content provider. Also the action may include storing data, such as a contact entry, or a calendar event.

  • Publication number: 20070066283
Abstract: A method in electronic messaging in a mobile telecommunications network for mobile communication terminals is disclosed. The method involves, in a sender terminal, the steps of generating an electronic message, associating the electronic message with a message notification, and representing the electronic message and the message notification in a signal which is transmittable over the mobile telecommunications network to a receiver terminal. The signal is adapted, when received in the receiver terminal, for performance of the message notification in a user interface of the receiver terminal as a notification of the reception of the electronic message. Further disclosed are an associated method in a receiver terminal, and a sender terminal and a receiver terminal capable of performing the respective method, as well as a system including such sender and receiver terminals.

  • Patent number: 7124953
Abstract: The invention is defined by systems, methods and applications for establishing a short-range communication link between digital devices for the purpose of transferring data between the devices. The first device generates and displays a visual code that encodes the address of the first device and the location of data element desired to be transferred. A second device, which implements image capture capability, captures the visual code and decodes such to determine the address of the first device and the location of the data element. Upon decoding, the second device will automatically initiate the short-range communication link between the first and second digital devices and the transfer of the data element from the first device to the second device will ensue.

  • Patent number: 7125336
Abstract: A method and system for playing a distributed game over a wireless telecommunications network is disclosed. The game is initiated when a game server sends a task (e.g., a question) to a first group of mobile terminals. Each mobile terminal may either respond to the task (e.g., submit an answer) or forward the task to another mobile terminal. Once a mobile terminal forwards the task, that mobile terminal no longer retains the task. The game ends when a mobile terminal submits a correct task response, when a global time limit ends, or when all mobile terminals have submitted incorrect responses. Responses and forwards can be sent using any known data messaging technique.

  • Publication number: 20060194626
Abstract: A method of using a normal music file, such as an MP3 file, stored in a mobile terminal to produce a ringing tone. The music file comprises a plurality of file segments, some of the segments having associated data identifying the segments such that when the mobile terminal receives a telephone call or message, one or more of the identified segments are used to produce the ringing tone. The associated data can be stored as header information of the music file or stored in a separate memory. The associated data can be provided by a data service from which the music file is purchased. Alternatively, the file segments to be used to produce the ringing tone are selected by the user and the associated data is also provided by the user using a software program.
