  • Patent number: 6484482
Abstract: A dynamic drive and brake system is provided. To accelerate the mower in a forward direction, the operator depresses the acceleration pedal, overcoming the biasing force of the acceleration spring. This causes the double idler pulley system to pivot from an inoperative or de-clutched condition to an operative condition. The farther the accelerator pedal is depressed, the more the double idler pulley system pivots and, correspondingly, the more tension is applied to the first belt. The increased tension in the first belt causes the middle pulley member to move in a downward direction and therefore decreases the diameter of the first belt about the double pulley shaft. The movement of the middle pulley member simultaneously increases the diameter of the second belt about the double pulley shaft. This increases the tension in the second belt which tension is absorbed by the idler spring that permits the idler pulley to pivot in a clockwise direction as seen in FIGS. 2-3.

  • Patent number: 6269620
Abstract: An implement attachment apparatus is provided for use with a lawn and garden tractor and an implement. The implement has first and second attachment brackets having first and second holes and first and second slots respectively. The lawn and garden tractor includes a frame having first and second surfaces with first and second openings respectively. The tractor also includes a plurality of wheels operatively connected to the frame, an engine for use in providing locomotion to the plurality of wheels and, first and second extension members extending from the first and second surfaces of the frame. The implement attachment apparatus includes first and second pins as well as securing apparatus for securing the first and second pins in place. The first and second slots of the implement receive the first and second extension members respectively. The first and second holes of the implement and the first and second openings of the frame selectively receive the first and second pins respectively.

Abstract: A dynamic drive and brake system is provided. To accelerate the mower in a forward direction, the operator depresses the acceleration pedal, overcoming the biasing force of the acceleration spring. This causes the double idler pulley system to pivot from an inoperative or de-lutched condition to an operative condition. • Patent number: 6186278
Abstract: A bearing grease fitting for directing grease into an interior portion of a wheel hub. The bearing grease fitting is an integral piece having a protrusion with a nippled end. The grease fitting has a first portion, which seats within a wheel hub. Grease is transferred from a grease gun through the protrusion to an interior portion of a wheel, such as an axle. A bearing grease fitting assembly consists of the grease fitting together with the wheel hub.

  • Patent number: 5799475
Abstract: A riding mower is provided with a first frame element pivotably connected near a forward end to a second frame element and connected at a rearward end to the second frame element by spring means. The connecting members provide a suspension system for the mower in order to decouple the vertical movement of the first frame element from the second frame element and thereby soften the ride. A pivot bar located near the forward end of the first frame element is pivotably received at its ends near opposite side walls of the second frame element. The suspension system includes two springs which operate in the vertical gap between first and second frame elements at the rear of the apparatus.

  • Patent number: 5791130
Abstract: A riding mower is provided with a grass collection bag located in the vertical space between the riding seat and the rotating blade. The seat is mounted on an exterior surface of a hood which encloses the bag during a grass cutting operation. The hood is moveable to permit access to the bag. The bag is equipped with a handle for easy removal from the mower body. The contents of the bag are emptied through the bottom of the bag. An air flow indicator signals an operator as to the need to empty the bag. A view window in the enclosing hood allows the operator to observe the indicator.
