  • Patent number: 8395358
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for managing the heat in an electric battery including a plurality of elements for generating electric power, the method including, when recharging said battery from an external power source, preconditioning said battery at an average temperature T0 and, when using said battery, determining the absolute value ?T2 of the difference between the temperature T0 and the average temperature T of said battery, wherein said method includes activating a heat-conditioning device of the battery when the difference ?T2 is higher than a setpoint C2, said setpoint being established on the basis of the state of charge (SOC) of said battery.

  • Patent number: 8371512
Abstract: A motor vehicle has a low exhaust heat engine (ME) for driving the driven wheels and a system for conditioning the air temperature of the passenger compartment (CAB). The conditioning system includes a reversible heat pump (PAC) which conditions in temperature respectively a distribution loop (DI) and an exhaust loop (RE) through which flows a coolant. The distribution loop (DI) is connected to an exchanger (H2) with the air entering the space compartment (CAB) and is connectable via an electromagnetic valve (EV1) to another exchanger (H1) with the air entering the passenger compartment (CAB). The exhaust loop (RE) is connected to an exchanger (F1) with the outside air. The exhaust loop being further connected to the engine (ME) for exchanging heat with the engine.

  • Patent number: 8338012
Abstract: Methods for managing the heat in an electric battery, including, when recharging said battery, preconditioning at an average temperature T0 and, when using said battery, determining the difference ?T1 between the temperatures of the hottest element and of the coolest element and as the absolute value ?T2 of the difference between the temperature T0 and the average temperature T of said battery. The method includes, when the difference ?T1 is lower than a first setpoint C1, deactivating the circulating device and as the heat-conditioning devices and, when the difference ?T1 is higher than a first setpoint C1 or when the difference ?T2 is higher than a second setpoint C2, activating the fluid-circulating device while keeping the heat-conditioning devices deactivated if the difference ?T2 is lower than the second setpoint C2, or while activating a heat-conditioning device if the difference ?T2 is higher than the second setpoint C2.

  • Patent number: 8197958
Abstract: An electric battery includes a plurality of electric energy generators and a system for mechanical and thermal conditioning of the elements, which system includes a one-piece structural body in which housings are formed in order to each receive an element, in which the housings have at least one internal area of contact with an element, and the contact area is continuous and has a shape suitable for ensuring contact between the area and the periphery of the element, in which the body also includes chambers that each extend around a contact area, and which system also includes a device enabling a thermal conditioning fluid to circulate in the chambers so as to ensure the thermal conditioning of the elements.

  • Publication number: 20100119929
Abstract: An electric battery has a plurality of elements generating electrical energy. A system for the mechanical and thermal packaging of the elements includes a bed of thermal packaging fluid on which the elements are placed so as to leave a lateral space between the adjacent elements. The packaging system further includes a plurality of thermal packaging modules, each provided with a path for the fluid to flow between an upstream port and a downstream port, each flow path extending along a lateral space with the ports in fluid communication with the bed. The packaging system further includes a structural matrix made of a thermally conductive and electrically insulating polymer resin, the matrix filling the lateral spaces, at least partly encapsulating the generator elements and the packaging modules.
