  • Patent number: 6453604
Abstract: A method of collecting secretions from trees including making a predetermined shaped incision through the bark to the surface of the wood and applying a secretion flow activation agent to the incision. The method further includes placing a receptacle in the incision, wherein the receptacle comprises a lower outer part and a flow tube portion located at the lower outer part, and wherein a portion of the receptacle has the same shape as the predetermined shape of the incision. The method further includes fixing a collecting apparatus to the flow tube and subsequently removing the collecting apparatus from the flow tube when the collecting apparatus contains secretions from the trees.

  • Patent number: 4896868
Abstract: The invention provides a hydraulic antivibratory support sleeve comprising two rigid tubular frames (1, 2), one surrounding the other and joined together by an elastomer body (3) adhered thereto and shaped so as to form therewith at least two sealed chambers (A, B) diametrically opposite in a direction Y separated from each other by a central dividing wall (6) and communicating together through a narrow channel (E), the assembly of the chambers and the channel being filled with a liquid. One at least of the sections, of its central dividing wall (6), separating the two chambers and connecting the two frames together is formed with a well (5) extending in direction Y, causing the two chambers (A and B) to communicate with each other, which well is closed by a mobile or deformable valve (4) associated with a device for limiting the amplitude of its deflections.

  • Patent number: 4020127
Abstract: Disclosed is a novel bigraft copolymer comprising a polyhydrocarbon backbone selected from the class consisting of aromatic homopolymers, saturated and unsaturated hydrocarbon homopolymers, such homopolymers having halogen functionality and copolymers and terpolymers formed therefrom, and two different branches which are selected from the group consisting of monovinyl aromatic compounds and isoolefins. The bigraft copolymer is formed by the selective sequential cationic initiation of a first charge of one monomer onto the backbone at specific functional positions thereon and in the presence of a suitable solvent and an alkylaluminum compound. The resultant monograft copolymer is subsequently subjected to a second charge of another monomer, in the presence of a suitable solvent and an alkylaluminum compound, which becomes polymerized at the remaining, different functional positions available on the backbone.

  • Patent number: 4014844
Abstract: A process for grafting polymers on carbon black through a free radical mechanism comprising contacting of the black with the polymer and a thermal treatment. After formation of the carbon black mixture with at least one polymer, said mixture is degassed under vacuum at approximately room temperature, at least one substance acting as a solvent for said polymer is then introduced on said degassed mixture which is under vacuum, so as to form a solution of the latter containing the carbon black, said solution is heated with stirring at least at 50.degree. C until a carbon black bearing polymer grafts is obtained and the latter can, if desired, be separated by filtration or centrifugation of the unattached polymer solution. The carbon black products bearing polymer grafts as well as this carbon black itself are easily dispersed in solvents. They find valuable applications in paints, varnishes, printing inks, among others.
