When the smart card is inserted into the smart card connector, contacts secured within the connector housing may establish an electrically conductive connection with contact pads on the surface of the smart card. The connector housing may be narrower than the cover in a second direction that is perpendicular to the first direction. The connector housing may define a first centerline that extends along the insertion direction, and the cover may define a second centerline that extends along the insertion direction. The first centerline may be offset from the second centerline.
