    Abstract: A reverse tapered guidewire may comprise a proximal segment and a distal segment. The proximal segment may have a cross-sectional diameter smaller than a cross-sectional diameter of the distal segment. The guidewire may be inserted through an access site on a patient. A medical device may be advanced over the proximal segment of the guidewire. After the medical device is withdrawn from the patient, the guidewire may be used to re-access the site.
