  • Patent number: 4804443
Abstract: A method and apparatus for determining electrochemically active components in a process stream. The method comprises the steps of providing a sample in which the components are contained, and depositing the components onto a working electrode, altering the environment of the working electrode so that it is immersed in a supporting electrolyte by effecting a matrix exchange and stripping the deposited electrochemically active components from the working electrode into the supporting electrolyte. The method and apparatus utilize a measurement cell which comprises a vessel (10) for containing the supporting electrolyte and a mercury drop electrode (150).

  • Patent number: 4737465
Abstract: Apparatus and method for automatically detecting and quantitatively determining the presence of metals. The apparatus includes a sample collecting device for locating in an effluent and means to inject the sample into a chromatographic column to separate out the various metal ions present. Two analysing devices, namely, spectrophotometric detector and an electrochemical detector are used. These elements are monitored and controlled by a microprocessor which monitors the delay from injection of the sample and controls the conditions in the electrochemical detector to ensure maximum effectiveness in measuring metal presence. The microprocessor also controls the production of data output from the detectors and controls the frequency of the sample collection.

  • Patent number: 4504367
Abstract: A method and apparatus for determining the concentration of chemical species in solution. The method involves passing the solution through a cell containing an ion-selective electrode. Measurement is carried out following suppression of interfering materials, under turbulent flow conditions. The apparatus preferably includes microprocessor controlled instrumentation and is particularly useful for the on-line determination of the concentration of copper(II) ions in electrolyte solutions.
