The metallic shell encloses the insulated housing, and the metallic shell includes a rear case body and a front case body. The base member is inside the rear case body. The front case body is drawn from the rear case body to be formed at a front side of the rear case body. The front case body protrudes from the front side of the rear case body. The front case body defines a receiving cavity therein to dispose the upper portion and the lower portion.

When the electrical plug connector is inserted into a metallic shell of the electrical receptacle connector, each conductive contact members of the electrical plug connector comes in contact with the inner surface of the metallic shell of the electrical receptacle connector and a low-impedance grounding path is established between the metallic shell of the electrical plug connector and the metallic shell of the mating electrical receptacle connector through each conductive contact member.

The shell covers the insulator and the contacts and has a cavity to receive the insulator and the contacts. A detection arm is formed on one of two sidewalls of the shell, which is resilient and able to be deformed by external force and recovered after removal of the external force. The insulating bracket is mounted outside of one of the sidewalls of the shell and has mounting slot defined in the insulating bracket. The detection contact is mounted in the mounting slot of the insulating bracket and is capable of contacting the detection arm. When a plug connector is inserted into the receptacle connector, the detection arm is bent to contact the detection contact for detecting the existence of the plug connector and activating signal transmission or power supply.

Each pin (22) includes a contact portion (24) for engaging with a complementary contact of a receptacle connector portion of the future bus, a retaining portion (26) having an embossed retention mechanism (29) formed thereon for interferentially engaging with inner walls (17) of the passageways (20) of the housing (12), and a tail portion (30) having an eye (32) of the needle engagement feature for reception in a corresponding hole defined in a PCB. The retention mechanism (29) includes two projections (27, 28), wherein one projection (27) is ramp-shaped and the other projection is either a partial sphere or a partial cylinder (28).
