Patent number: 8267187Abstract: A simplified spike tooth harrow includes an apertured bracket pivotally connected to the fore-and-aft connecting strap extending between the tine bars. The bracket adjustably supports a tine bar from the strap. A pin selectively secured in one of the apertures contacts the strap to set the working angle of the tines on the bar when the harrow is operated in the field. A chain or link connected to the bracket at a location offset from the bracket pivot suspends the harrow from an upper drawbar assembly which is movable vertically between field-working and transport positions. When the drawbar assembly is raised to the transport position so the harrow is out of ground contact, the bracket pivots so the pin is offset from the strap and can be easily and quickly removed from the aperture and reinserted in a different aperture to change the tine angle.Type: GrantFiled: March 1, 2006Date of Patent: September 18, 2012Assignee: Deere & CompanyInventors: David Alan Payne, Richard Joseph Connell, Shawn Becker, Garrett Lee Goins

Patent number: 8068680Abstract: The present invention relates to processing of coded aperture images. Multiple frames of data acquired by the coded aperture imaging system, each with a different coded aperture array, are processed to form an image. The processing incorporates the constraints that the image solution must be positive and that the solution should be zero outside an expected image region. In one embodiment image enhancement may involve dividing the processed image into image regions having a spatially invariant point spread function and solving an inverse problem for each image region to reduce image blurring.Type: GrantFiled: February 6, 2007Date of Patent: November 29, 2011Assignee: Qinetiq LimitedInventors: Christopher William Slinger, Geoffrey Derek De Villiers, Douglas Alan Payne

Patent number: 7892584Abstract: A method is provided for improving quality of cheese produced from a milk batch. A light beam from an incident light source impinges onto a surface of the milk batch, and light backscatter is optically detected during a coagulation process and correlated to an optimum cutting time for the milk coagulum. Next, light backscattered from a curd and whey mixture derived from the milk batch during a syneresis process is optically detected and correlated to an optimum syneresis endpoint. At least one of the backscattered light data, optical parameters developed from analysis of the backscattered light data, and whey fat dilution are correlated to at least one of a milk protein %, a milk fat %, a milk total solids content, a milk processing temperature, a curd moisture content, a curd moisture change over time, whey fat content, a whey fat loss, and a final curd yield.Type: GrantFiled: April 25, 2008Date of Patent: February 22, 2011Assignees: University College Dublin, National University of Ireland, University of Kentucky Research Foundation, Teagase-The Agriculture & Food Development AuthorityInventors: Manuel Castillo, Colette C.
