  • Patent number: 11346697
Abstract: Calibrating a plurality of fluid sensors of a remote metering system is disclosed. The system includes a material supply device including a main pump and a main flow sensor for monitoring an output of the main pump. The application system also includes a remote metering system for receiving the material flowing from the material supply device and applying the material to substrates. The remote metering system includes a first applicator assembly including a first applicator and a first flow sensor for monitoring an output of the first applicator, and a second applicator assembly including a second applicator and a second flow sensor for monitoring an output of the second applicator. The remote metering system further includes a controller in signal communication with the remote metering station and the material supply device. The controller performs a first and second calibration operations on the first and second flow sensors, respectively.

  • Patent number: 5740963
Abstract: A slot nozzle die for use with a coating dispenser includes a first die body having a tapered projection and a deflectable tab member horizontally spaced from the tapered projection to define a die seat therebetween. A second die body having a tapered projection is slidably received in the die seat formed in the first die body. The tapered projections of the first and second die bodies define an extrusion slot therebetween which receives coating material from the coating dispenser. A pair of air blocks are respectively mounted to lower ends of each die body to define a pair of air channels disposed at an angle relative to the extrusion slot. One of the air blocks is slidably received intermediate the deflectable tab member and the tapered projection of the second die body and cooperates with the deflectable tab member for translating the tapered projection of the second die body toward the tapered projection of the first die body to seal the first and second die bodies.

  • Patent number: 5636790
Abstract: A fluid applicator having a multi-zone noncontacting die set for dispensing a selected plurality of thin flat fiberized adhesive streams as uniform rectangular strips of adhesive on a substrate. The die set uses shims to establish the fiberizing air slot, and the adhesive dispensing and fiberizing air shims have tapered tabs to provide improved coating edge control. The fiberizing air die also has simplified fiberizing air flow, and the die set includes a mechanism for clamping the die set together which is especially suited for a multi-zone die set. The fluid applicator includes a manifold heater with a simplified and improved air flow, and a universal adhesive manifold.

  • Patent number: 5194115
Abstract: An improved loop producing apparatus includes an adhesive gun and a nozzle member for emanating a bead of adhesive in a spiral pattern caused by the direction of air jets toward the adhesive bead as it emanates from the nozzle. A plenum chamber just upstream of the nozzle member is provided with diffusing or baffling means for diffusing the flow of air before it is introduced to the bores in the nozzle member. Overlapping loops of an adhesive bead are deposited onto a substrate in very consistent loop widths and with little loop width variation independently of the angular orientation of the nozzle member.
