  • Publication number: 20100037732
Abstract: A ring pull can opener utilizes two different coefficients of friction separated by a transition point on the can engaging surface of the can opener to provide increased leverage and assist in the opening action of the can. An ergonomic bulbous handle not only makes it easier to hold the opener, but also provides a greater freedom of motion of the user's wrist, thereby enabling greater leverage to be applied to the ring pull top during the opening actions.

  • Publication number: 20080160494
Abstract: An erasable board cover system is provided to enable the selective covering and concealment of the writing surface of the erasable board. The cover system can include a retractable cover that is adapted to slidably cover the erasable board using edge mounted tracks and reels and cords. In other embodiments the cover is a retrofit item that can be disposed over a erasable board in a stationary, static manner, or can be retractably mounted over the erasable board. A manual knob or an electric motor can control the deployment and/or retraction of the erasable board cover in the retractable embodiment. A locking mechanism is provided and configured to secure and prevent movement of, or the removal of, the cover when in a locked position.

  • Publication number: 20080155830
Abstract: A package opener having a rotating cutting wheel and adapted to cut and open packages having dye cut edges/flanges, or more specifically clamshell packages. An opposing groove is positioned to receive the blade of the cutting wheel. The package opener includes an edge receiving portion that is configured to receive the flange of the package and allow the opener to be moved along the same. The moving action results in an engagement of the package between the cutting wheel and the opposing groove, and the cutting of the same without any exertion or discomfort to the user.

  • Publication number: 20070157765
Abstract: A clamshell package opener includes a handle to which a housing is attached at a first end. The housing includes a head portion distal to the point of attachment with the handle. The head portion preferably includes an end portion and at least two opposing planar sides. A cutting element is disposed within the head portion and is displaceable longitudinally relative to the housing between a retracted position and an extended position via a blade-deploying mechanism. A curved U-shaped guard is provided for attachment at one of the planar sides. The package opener is adapted such that during use, the cutting element is extended for cutting around the die cut edge of the clamshell package until the user may easily remove the contents of the same.

  • Publication number: 20070021283
Abstract: A system and method for automated identification and folding of textile items. A folding unit includes an item identifier for identifying, for example, an article of clothing and matching its identification with a corresponding stored article ID in a memory database. Preferably, each textile item is embedded with a readable tag or transponder (e.g., RFID) for reading by the item identifier. The system also allows for reversion to a default folding mode if e.g., no match is found. Additionally, folding codes may be manually entered and/or created for e.g., articles with no readable tag and/or no matching folding code. Advantageously, a system and method according to the present invention is interactive in providing users with, e.g., the option to select from, as well as input, various folding arrangements and techniques.

  • Patent number: 6412670
Abstract: An apparatus for making molded candles from wax pieces of old candles or new candle-making wax. The candle making apparatus comprising an electrically heatedmelting chamber from which melted wax flows into an attached dispensing chamber and a valving mechanism which, when turned by hand, allows a pre-set amount of melted wax to flow into a removable mold, eliminating the need for measuring by the user. The apparatus accomodates making candles of different volumes, whereby the removable molds may be filled by the user of the apparatus by executing a predefined number of turns of the valving mechanism. The removable mold also functions to hold the candle wick in plan, and may be made to form candles of various shapes and sizes.
