Patent number: 9650875Abstract: A liner installation system for use in a wellbore having a casing string disposed therein. The system includes a liner string having a liner hanger and a liner top and a setting tool having an expansion cone assembly and a locator cylinder. After running the liner string through the casing string such that at least the liner hanger is positioned within the wellbore casing, the setting tool is run through the casing string until the locator cylinder contacts the liner top. Thereafter, axially moving the expansion cone assembly through the liner string radially expands the liner hanger into contact with the casing string.Type: GrantFiled: December 5, 2013Date of Patent: May 16, 2017Assignee: HALLIBURTON ENERGY SERVICES, INC.Inventors: Alan Tancel Jackson, Abdolreza Gharesi, Steven John Cramp, Ryan Thomas Humphrey

Patent number: 6343649Abstract: A system of downhole communication and control is provided in methods and associated apparatus for data retrieval, monitoring and tool actuation. In a described embodiment, an item of equipment installed in a tubular string has a first communication device associated therewith. A tool conveyed into the tubular string has a second communication device therein. Communication is established between the first and second devices. Such communication may be utilized to control operation of the tool, retrieve status information regarding the item of equipment, supply power to the first device and/or identify the item of equipment to the tool.Type: GrantFiled: September 7, 1999Date of Patent: February 5, 2002Assignee: Halliburton Energy Services, Inc.Inventors: Harold Kent Beck, Clark E. Patent number: 6199628Abstract: A downhole force generator includes a longitudinal force generating and transmitting assembly (including, for example, a motor and a threaded shaft that is extended and retracted by operation of the motor) adapted to be moved into a well. A controller is also adapted to be moved into the well and is connected to the longitudinal force generating and transmitting assembly. The controller includes a memory containing a program to control the longitudinal force generating and transmitting assembly to obtain at least one desired operating condition in the well. A sensor can be connected to the controller. A self-contained power source adapted to be moved into the well can also be used. A method of providing an infinitely variable linear force in an oil or gas well is a particular application for such a downhole force generator. This particular method comprises sensing in the well a parameter responsive over a continuum to changes in a selected operating condition in the well.Type: GrantFiled: April 20, 1998Date of Patent: March 13, 2001Assignee: Halliburton Energy Services, Inc.Inventors: Harold Kent Beck, Alan Tancel Jackson, Clark Edward Robison, John Joseph Goiffon
